An entry for the lost zombie game appears on Amazon. It reveals not only the release date, but also gameplay details and shows new screenshots.
After the recent resurgence of Skull & Bones, Ubisoft”s pirate game lost at sea, there are also increasing hints that another game with an uncertain fate is returning. Dead Island 2 was announced back in 2014, but then disappeared from the scene for a long time.
The zombie survival game, however, seems to have been resurrected. First insiders promised a 2022 reveal and now an Amazon listing accidentally reveals new details about the game. Find out which other big games were almost forgotten and what will become of them in our article:

Characters, Skills and Zombie Types
On Twitter, the leaker Wario64 pointed out that Dead Island 2 can be pre-ordered on Amazon. Among other things, new screenshots and a box cover can be seen there:

A release date was also revealed: On 3 February 2023 it will finally be time. However, this date is probably one of the pieces of information most likely to change. Until an official reveal, you should therefore take the date with a grain of salt.
Safer are the additional information about the gameplay and other details that were revealed in the game description. This has since been removed again – the same applies to the release date. The following could be taken from the description of Dead Island:
- Setting and background: The setting is the city of Los Angeles in California. Our character is infected after a zombie bite, but is probably immune to the virus. In fact, we can probably even use the infection to our advantage and become stronger. As the story progresses, we then find out what is behind the outbreak of the virus and what we have to do with it.
- Fights: The fights in first person are supposed to be especially brutal, bloody and intense. We can choose between many weapons and tactical options.
- Characters and Skills: We can play one of six unique characters. Each of them has a special personality and different dialogues. Throughout the game, we learn a wide variety of skills and can reallocate our skill points and try different builds at any time.
- Zombie types and behaviour: Zombies are supposed to
react
to you realistically. There are supposed to be dozens of different species that use their own attacks. There are also hundreds of variations of them. - Preorder bonuses: If you buy the game before release, you will probably get different weapons, a weapon perk and more.
What was going on with Dead Island 2?
What took you so long? This question may pop into your head after hearing that Dead Island 2 has apparently been in development since 2014. Of course, even we can”t look behind the scenes at the production of the game, however, it can also be seen from the outside that there were enormous difficulties with the zombie survival game.
We were able to play Dead Island 2 at gamescom 2014, but the version at that time probably doesn”t have much to do with today”s game. After an initial postponement, the developer studio responsible was fired. The project ended up at a new studio, was taken away from them again and is now being developed by Dambuster Studios.
Time and again, the publisher affirmed that Dead Island 2 was not dead. And now it really seems as if the game has risen from its hastily dug grave and is teetering towards a release.
