Spoiler warning: the cast of Deadpool 3 is slowly but surely taking shape, and they’re apparently digging really deep into the superhero box in the process.
In his third feature film, Deadpool finally makes the leap into the Marvel Cinematic Universe – and the mercenary with the big mouth isn’t alone. Hugh Jackman gets himself broadcasted for another appearance as Wolverine, but that’s not all.
Because according to new reports, Deadpool 3 is nabbing at least two almost-forgotten superheroes that hardly anyone expected anymore. Be warned of potential spoilers from this point onunless you want to spoil the surprise for yourself!
Deadpool may be digging up two failed superheroes
Still here? Then on to the text. That Deadpool 3 will rely on the multiverse trend that current superhero movies are muddling through is looking increasingly likely. Especially considering the following two superheroes are rumoured to appear and we’ve actually known about them for a long time:
- So according to (THR) Jennifer Garner is said to be appearing as Elektra whom we know in the role, of course, from the 2003 Daredevil movie with Ben Affleck and her own 2005 solo film. Elektra is considered a huge flop and director Rob Bowman never made another feature film after that.
According to the insider (MyTimeToShineHello) Channing Tatum will star as Gambit who had been trying unsuccessfully since 2014 to make his personal solo film in the X-Men universe. The project made several attempts and has been considered dead since the Fox takeover by Disney.
Of course, neither appearance is currently officially confirmed. But Garner as Elektra and Tatum as Gambit being seen in Deadpool 3 is far from unlikely.
Even considering previous reports that we will get to see, for example multiple variants of Deadpool or old acquaintances from Parts 1 and 2 (such as Colossus, Negasonic Teenage Warhead or Yukio), a multiverse clambake for Wade Wilson’s MCU debut is looking increasingly likely.
By the way: A first look at Hugh Jackman in the Wolverine costume was shared by Ryan Reynolds himself on Instagram
