No Destiny 3, instead full concentration on Destiny 2: Developer Bungie surprised us in June with the announcement to support the current series part with new content at least until 2022. We collect all relevant information about the release, the story, the new features, the season plans and much more.

Destiny 2 Beyond Light: release, platforms & price
When will Destiny 2 Beyond Light be released?
After a relatively short delay Destiny 2: Beyond Light will be released on November 10th for PC, Google Stadia, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, Bungies Loot-Shooter will only be playable on the release via the backwards compatibility of the respective consoles. A next-gen upgrade with support for 4K resolutions and 60 FPS will be released on December 8.

What editions are available?
Destiny 2: Beyond Light is released in three different digital editions. For collectors there are also two different Collector’s Editions, which are currently sold out. Which version you can currently still buy is listed below:

Standard Edition 40 Euro
Standard Edition + Season 12 50 Euro
Deluxe Edition 60 Euro

How much disk space does Destiny 2 Beyond Light require?
With the expansion, Destiny 2 will become smaller on your hard drive. According to Bungie, the installation size will be between 59 and 71 GB depending on the platform.

The downside of the shrink cure is that you have to download the whole game again on each platform.

Is there a pre-load?
Yes, but Bungie has not yet given a date. However, the pre-download should start at least 10 hours before the expansion is released.

Story & new features: All information about the gameplay
What is Destiny 2 Beyond Light about?
The expansion builds right to the end of Destiny 2: Shadowkeep and the current season of arrival. The Pyramid Ships of Darkness have reached the solar system and present the Guardians with a new challenge.

Variks, an old acquaintance and certainly shady character, calls you to Jupiter’s moon Europa – the new and very icy area of Destiny 2: Beyond Light. Once there, new problems arise: Eramis, a representative of the traps, is out for revenge and has received a new power for her people from the darkness.

Many more details of the story are still unknown. One thing is certain, however, and that is that you will not face the new, but familiar enemies on Europe alone. Eris Morn, the Drifter and the Exo Strangers from Destiny 1 join the exploration team.

What new features are there?
The basic gameplay will not change with the expansion. Destiny 2 Beyond Light is still primarily about killing hundreds of enemies while you hunt for new loot. One thing, though, could turn things upside down.

New Element: For the very first time, Bungie introduces a new element, Stasis, which adds Arcus, Solar and Void to the existing trio. Stasis does not come from the traveler as usual, but from darkness and gives you ice-like powers. Depending on the chosen class, you can freeze enemies, create new ice walls and much more.

New customization system: In contrast to the previous element classes, Stasis will be more customizable. Bungie uses aspects and fragments for this. The former are physical objects that you find in the game world and offer new abilities and effects. Fragments can also be found in the game world and can unlock passive perks.

The Destiny Vault: Destiny 2 Beyond Light not only adds new elements to the game. Instead, Bungie removes countless items, including four entire planets, to make room for new ones. What content is disappearing and why the developers are doing this, we’ve captured for you elsewhere:

Return of the Cosmodrome: In addition to Europe as a completely new area, the Cosmodrome marks the return of the starting area from the previous one. For console gamers, it is a reunion, while PC gamers can let off steam there for the first time. In the course of the addon year, the first Destiny raid The Glass Chamber is also to be added.
