Before the new addon launches soon, you can play the Forsaken campaign for free. But you’ll have to hurry, because time is running out.

Time is running out: Since December 2021, all characters in Destiny 2 have been allowed to access the grandiose Forsaken campaign for free, but this luxury will soon come to an end. Then the old content will be put on ice and can no longer be played.

Why the developer Bungie feels forced to take such harsh measures and why Forsaken is a must for every Destiny 2 fan, you can find out here.

What to expect in the Forsaken campaign

How long can I play for free? You can still play the Forsaken campaign until 22 February 2022 at no extra cost – even Free-2-Play players.

What does Forsaken offer me? Among Destiny 2 fans, Forsaken is considered the best story campaign of the multiplayer shooter to date. Especially emotionally, those who know the lore get a lot here and many important plot details are still relevant today. Especially the role of Uldren Sov (aka Crow) is put into a different light by the events.

However, not all Forsaken content is accessible for free. A few features are additionally offered in the store as a package, namely the following:

  • The Raid Last Wish
  • The Dungeon The Broken Throne
  • All exotic weapons that came into play with Forsaken

So if you’re currently thinking about getting into Destiny 2, for example, you should definitely still experience the story of Forsaken in order to have a say (or at least nod knowingly) in the future.

Future is a good keyword – what does it look like? Destiny 2 heroes will not have to do without new content after 22 February. That’s when the new add-on The Witch Queen will be launched, and you can get in the mood for its release in the story trailer:

Why is Forsaken even flying out of the game? After February 22, developer Bungie will, as said, be releasing the Forsaken campaign to the eternal hunting grounds. The reason for this, according to the studio, is the complexity of the game code.

When new add-on content appears, older content has to make way for it in order to guarantee the stability of the game. This repeatedly causes displeasure among the players, as it ultimately means that paid content is no longer accessible.

It remains to be seen whether Forsaken will only be put in the freezer to be reactivated later. Conceivable occasions for such short comebacks would be special events such as anniversaries.

What content will disappear? Finally, we’ll give you a clear list of what content will soon be flying out of the game:

  • Seasons 12 to 15
  • The Forsaken campaign including the Wirrbucht area
  • The Omen and Portent missions
