The first part of the Witcher series is now 17 years old and is being closely scrutinized for the remake to ensure it still works today
Whoever wants to get into CD Projekt Red’s Witcher games these days has a not-so-easy start with Part 1. Since the release dates back to 2007, the beginning of Geralt’s adventures is already a bit outdated
Luckily, a remake is currently being developed, for which some old burdens will also have to jump over the silver blade, a developer revealed.
Witcher remake: “Parts that are bad will be removed “
The remake of the first Witcher is being handled by the studio Fool’s Theory, which consists of long-time CDPR developers. The studio’s CEO Jakub Rokosz has already worked on parts 2 and 3 and is now also working on the first game with the remake.
In an interview with GamesRadar Rokosz explained that “an honest and objective analysis is first necessary” for the remake. This is to decide which parts of the original “simply need to be bad, overhauled and remade.”
However, Rokosz doesn’t just want to “remove the bad parts”, but to find the cornerstones of the game that absolutely must be retained. The remake “should still reflect the feeling of the original”
The developer is not yet revealing which content and mechanics will be redeveloped for the remake or even removed completely.
Fans are certain: Geralt’s “collection” will be hit
The interview sparked a renewed discussion among fans about possible changes to the remake. One example is this Reddit thread:
The Witcher remake dev pledges to “remove” the parts that “are simply bad, outdated or unnecessarily convoluted “

There is great agreement on the portrayal of Geralt’s romantic adventures There were no cutscenes, but there was salacious artwork for each of the witcher’s conquests
“Sex cards are definitely gone “, assures user Elothel The fact that Geralt can collect his sexual partners like Pokémon cards seems out of date to some people.
It is not yet known when the remake will be released. However, it may still take some time, as The Witcher 4 is due to be released even earlier and does not yet have a release window.
Is there any content or mechanics that should definitely be retained for the remake of The Witcher 1? Where would you also cut? Feel free to write your opinion in the comments
