In Diablo 2: Resurrected you have to choose a class. Our quiz makes it easier for you to choose and introduces you to Paladin, Necromancer and Co. in detail.
In the new edition of Diablo 2, Blizzard and the responsible developer Vicarious Visions are not taking any risks: The proven game principle is graphically upgraded and refined, but not expanded with new content. That’s why the acts, bosses and, of course, the familiar classes remain the same.
Now you are faced with the same question as 21 years ago: Which class should I play? Who suits me, Paladin, Amazon, Druid, Assassin, Barbarian, Sorceress?
For the release of Diablo 2: Resurrected, we present the seven classes of the original and its expansion Lord of Destruction in detail, including the new trailers, and help you decide. By the way, not everyone is bothered by the fact that hardly anything has changed.
The classes of Diablo 2 presented in detail
This is the Amazon
The Amazon is a fairly classic ranged fighter: she can attack with bow and arrow, but also with spears, a crossbow or throwing spears. Among other things, her abilities strengthen her weapons, allowing her to hurl lightning spears at enemies or shoot several arrows at once.
The Amazon can best be compared to the huntress from Diablo 1 or the demon hunter from Diablo 3. If you choose the Amazon, you will mainly use ranged combat.
This is the Barbarian
The barbarian, on the other hand, stands for the exact opposite: He relies on powerful melee attacks and can, among other things, carry two weapons at the same time. He strengthens himself with battle cries and otherwise whirls through the enemy masses.
The barbarian is now a veteran of the Diablo series: it has been impossible to imagine the series without him since Diablo 2 and he will also play a role in Diablo 4.
This is the sorceress
The Sorceress is also a classic representative of the role-playing school and, living up to its name, focuses on magical arts. With the elements ice, fire and lightning, she can destroy entire hordes of opponents and if things get tight, she can quickly disappear via teleport.
The sorceress is also firmly anchored in the series. Since part 1, the class has always been at the core and relies on strong elemental abilities throughout.
This is the Paladin
For the first time, the paladin deviates a little from the classic scheme: The divine warrior is also a melee fighter, but unlike the barbarian, he also relies on magical abilities and especially auras. Thus, he can sometimes heal himself and his companions or significantly increase physical damage.
The paladin is not quite so firmly connected to the series. In Diablo 3, he made it into the game in a modified form as a crusader. However, a paladin class has not yet been confirmed for Diablo 4.
This is the Druid
The Druid, who only came into play with the Lord of Destruction expansion, is one of the most unusual classes in the Diablo series Very much connected to nature, the role can use powerful spells or transform into a werewolf or werebear and deal powerfully at close range.
As unusual as he is, the druid unfortunately makes himself scarce. So far, he has only made an appearance in Diablo 2.
This is the necromancer
The necromancer can also be classified in the “unusual” category He can revive defeated opponents or summon them as skeleton warriors who then stand by him helpfully. Basically, the necromancer always breeds his own private army and otherwise relies on poison and bone spells.
The class, which looks a little pale around the nose, is considered a fan favourite among Diablo players and appeared in Diablo 3 as a separate DLC character. Whether he will play a role again in the future is still unknown.
This is the Assassin
With Lord of Destruction, the Assassin also joined the class selection It basically resembles a rogue character and is therefore mainly found in close combat. They are the only class that can use claw weapons and have sneaky traps, among other things.
Similar to the druid, the assassin has so far only been used in Diablo 2. In Diablo 4 she is also not on board, but the huntress is supposed to take over some of her playable aspects.
What else is there to know about Diablo 2: Resurrected?
Which class you choose in the end is up to you. However, our test might give you a little incentive to try out a different class or show you who suits you and your play preferences particularly well.
However, there are still a few things to keep in mind in Diablo 2: Resurrected.
