Release and Early Access: When will Disney Speedstorm be released?
The Early Access of Disney Speedstorm will start on April 18, 2023 How long the game will remain in this beta phase is still unknown. Thus, an exact release date has not been set yet. During the EA phase, numerous updates with new characters and vehicles are to follow
Price and Founder Packs: How much will the kart racer cost?
Like its indirect predecessor Disney Dreamlight Valley, Speedstorm will be a Free2Play game and will be playable for free at release. Access to Early Access, on the other hand, will only be granted to players who purchase one of the Founder Packs:
- Standard Pack (30 Euro): 3 unlocked drivers, 4,000 tokens, 2 Golden Pass credits, exclusive costumes and kart customizations and more.
- Deluxe Pack (50 Euro): 4 unlocked drivers, 7,000 tokens, 2 Golden Pass credits, exclusive costumes and kart customizations and more.
- Ultimate Pack (70 Euro): 6 unlocked drivers, 12,000 tokens, 3 Golden Pass Credits, exclusive costumes and kart customizations and more.
Real Money Shop: What can I buy and is Speedstorm Pay2Win?
Disney Speedstorm has an in-game store where you can spend tokens and other currencies on additional content like upgrades, costumes, Season Pass, etc. Tokens can be earned in-game or purchased for real money.
So is Speedstorm Pay2Win? According to the developer, cosmetic content does not affect the game”s progress and does not bring any advantages in multiplayer races. Buying tokens, on the other hand, can speed up unlocking new racers with unique abilities because you can skip the grind. How far Disney will go with its microtransactions here and whether this will cause actual problems for the game experience in multiplayer remains to be seen.
Platforms: What does Disney Speedstorm appear on?
Disney Speedstorm will be released on the PC (Steam, Epic Games, Microsoft Store), PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X/S and the Nintendo Switch Currently, there do not appear to be any plans to offer Speedstorm”s Early Access on Xbox Game Pass like Dreamlight Valley.
Gameplay: How does the racing game play?
Disney Speedstorm plays like a classic kart racer. Of course, the numerous characters from Disney and Pixar movies and the corresponding tracks are special. The soundtrack mix should also be familiar to die-hard Disney fans. In addition to a single-player mode, in which you unlock the characters bit by bit, other modes and features await you:
- Season Tour: These limited time season races you can solo one by one to complete challenges and collect medals.
- Multiplayer: Of course you can also compete against friends or other players in Speedstorm. Here you have a ranked mode, a regulated multiplayer mode, local play in split screen and your own lobbies at your disposal.
- Golden Pass: This is Speedstorm”s Battle Pass, which is updated every season. The Golden Pass can be unlocked with tokens. As a reward you will get new characters, costumes, currencies, and more.
- Events: These time-limited races work on a leaderboard system. Depending on your rank, you will get exclusive rewards at the end of the event.
