What is so special about The Legend of Vox Machina?
The show is no ordinary fantasy series, because it is based on the group’s real role-playing session Critical Role The group consists of well-known voice actors and actors such as Ashley Johnson(The Last of Us, Marvel’s The Avengers) and Laura Bailey (The Last of Us Part 2).
They meet regularly at the role-playing table to offer fans a great pen & paper experience on Twitch. And these sessions, including their characters and stories, of course, were filmed with Vox Machina.
What is Vox Machina about?
There are seven characters:
- The half-elf twins Vex (Laura Bailey) and Vax (Liam O’Brien)
- The noble gunslinger Percy (Taliesin Jaffe)
- The gnome cleric Pike (Ashley Johnson)
- The nature-loving half-elf druid Keyleth (Marisha Rey)
- The lovelorn bard Scanlan (Sam Riegel)
- The strong (but somewhat stupid) half-giant Grog (Travis Willingham)
The first two episodes focus on the adventurers’ fight against the blue dragon Brimscythe and can be seen more as a kind of prologue. After that, the series is based on the original story from the Twitch videosand a real story develops around the animated heroes.
Season 1 is set in the city of Whitestone, where the group is mainly out for revenge against the local Lord and Lady Briarwood. In Season 2, the group fights, among other things, against four dangerous dragons that are threatening their world.
