A soldier skin for Call of Duty bears striking similarities to NFT shooter Deadrop. But is it really a brazen copy?

The shooter by streamer Herschel Dr. Disrespect Beahm has not even been released yet and has already made negative headlines. After the announcement of Deadrop caused little enthusiasm, a gameplay presentation caused ridicule, as the streamer had previously bragged that his game looked better than Call of Duty!

Now there is excitement about Beahm”s game again. This time, there”s discussion about whether Call of Duty”s developers stole a skin from Deadrop. While one Deadrop employee suggests that it is a brazen copy, others see the similarity as a coincidence. A skin like any other? But how similar are the skins really? The best thing is for you to judge for yourself. Here you can see a picture of the Deadrop skin:

And this is how the new skin looks in Call of Duty: Warzone and Vanguard. The similarity is striking at first glance:

Especially the hood with the futuristic looking mask and the skull behind it are quite similar, even if the shape is a little different. In addition, the colour scheme of the skins is identical. So assuming something other than a coincidence is not completely out of the blue.

On the other hand, the basic features of the skin are nothing really new for Call of Duty. Hoods and skull masks could already be seen in abundance in Blizzard”s shooter before Deadrop was announced. The style and colour scheme are also not really out of the ordinary.

Not the first case

Last but not least, it must be mentioned that this is not the first time that such accusations have been voiced against Call of Duty. Only a short time ago, an artist spoke out about a CoD skin. This was a copy of his own work:

In this case, Activision showed some understanding, (removed the skin and apologised to the artist). How the publisher reacts to the latest accusations remains to be seen.

What do you think of the accusations? Do you agree with the Deadrop developers and think the skin is plagiarised? Or do you think it”s more of a coincidence? Feel free to write your opinion in the comments!
