In a new video and blog entry, BioWare discusses the progression of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Here, the studio provides details on character development, item progression and the companions of Rook, the game’s main character. The new information sheds light on the build-up and customization of Rook and his party’s abilities.

In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Rook reaches a maximum level of 50, with each level unlocking new skill points. We can distribute these in a comprehensive skill tree. The so-called “Constellation Skill Tree” offers a wide range of options for developing individual play styles. Here we can choose between active skills, passive upgrades and specialized class skills. Particularly practical: if we change our mind, the skill points can be reset and redistributed at any time – at no additional cost.

In addition, each class in Dragon Age: The Veilguard has three specialization areas that offer unique abilities. For example, Rooks who feel they belong to the Grey Warden can still choose the “Veil Ranger” specialization as a rogue. This gives the player additional flexibility in gameplay. This game system not only supports different fighting styles, but also strategic decisions in the course of the game.

Item Progression & Enchantments

In addition to skills, equipment and enchantments also play a central role in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Over the course of the game, weapons, armor and accessories can be upgraded by collecting duplicate items or unlocking new effects in the workshop in the lighthouse. Each upgrade increases stats and adds powerful properties.

Those who want to look particularly stylish can rejoice: the appearance of the armor can be adjusted independently of the stats. This gives every Rook an individual look

The importance of companions in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

From the very beginning, BioWarehas emphasized that the group of heroes surrounding the main character in Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be an essential plot and gameplay element. The studio has now confirmed this once again with the new information from theblog entry

Each member of the Guard has their own abilities and skill points, which are unlocked through quests and bindings to Rook. This applies to both romantic and platonic relationships. Players can take two companions with them on their missions and combine their abilities with Rooks to trigger particularly powerful effects. These include, for example, the “Detonation” attacks, which use special combinations of abilities

Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be released on October1for PC (Steam, EA App, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
