With native Steam support and graphics features, EA wants to convince PC gamers of Dragon Age: The Veilguard

After EA published the official system requirements for Dragon Age: The Veilguard a few days ago,the publisher is now dedicating a large blog post to the technology of the PC version.

In it, EA reveals that the PC version of the game has been tested the most with over 200,000 hours. In addition, there are almost 10,000 hours of tests in which the operation via mouse, keyboard and controller was tuned.

In detail:

  • Full support for 21:9 ultra-wide resolutions
  • Ultra ray-tracing mode for the fastest PCs.
  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard supports HDR, DLSS 3, FSR 2.2, XeSS and Nvidia Reflex.
  • DLSS 3 should bring a boost of 70 FPS according to EA.
  • The game supports PS5 DualSense and Xbox controllers as well as mouse and keyboard.
  • You can change the keyboard and controller mapping.
  • The version on Steam does not require an EA account.

A new trailershows what Dragon Age: The Veilguard looks like on PC with ray-tracing.

Changes to most graphical settings are displayed in real time. This should make it easier for players to optimize the graphics according to their own preferences.

The seamless use of mouse, keyboard and controller should also be of interest to many players. EA reveals that you can switch at any time without delay, for example to work with the mouse and keyboard in menus, but with a controller in the game.

You can also remove the frame rate limit on fast systems and make the following graphical settings on all PCs:

  • Set graphics to Low, Medium, High or Ultra
  • Quality of textures and filters
  • Light and shadow
  • Ray tracing reflections, ambient occlusion and ultra ray tracing
  • Geometry: details, hair, environment, visual effects
  • Camera: depth of field, vignette, motion blur, field of view and quality of post-processing

Dragon Age: The Veilguard on Steam

EA also talks about the Steam version of the game in the blog entry. This does not require an EA account and can be played on both PCs and the Steam Deck

In addition, EA supports the Steam Cloud, so you can switch between PC and Steam Deck while playing.

First tests will show how smoothly Dragon Age: The Veilguard will run on certain PCs. These should be available from October 31, 2024, the day of release.
