Eko Software and NACON have announced that the demo of Dragonkin: The Banished is now playable during Steam Next Fest. At the same time, the development team has provided information about upcoming updates that will expand the game over the next few months.

Now until March 3: Demo Phase

Players can plunge into the world of Dragonkin even before the official Steam Next Fest. In the demo, they take on the role of one of three heroes, each accompanied by one of the four available dragonkin.

The preview begins with the game’s prologue, in which the characters have already reached a high level. This gives players a direct impression of the advanced skills and intense battles against the dragons. The city of Montescail then becomes accessible as a dynamic hub where equipment can be upgraded, traded with NPCs, and customized. The demo also offers a glimpse of endgame modes and dungeon cleansing, where enemies and bosses can be challenged in two different biomes.

From March 6: Early Access begins

With the start of Early Access, players can explore the first chapter of the story and go on the hunt for the Poison Dragon Lord. In addition to the main story, numerous challenges are available in the endgame mode, including predefined hunts with increasing difficulty, boss fights, and individual hunting opportunities.

Special enemies with poisonous or electric attacks require tactical skill, with the Ancestral Grid playing a crucial role. By collecting fragments during their adventures, players can unlock new skills and modifiers and incorporate them into their class grids to create customized builds. The city of Montescail is also evolving: leveling up the city unlocks new merchants and bonuses that allow heroes to further optimize their hack’n’slash style.

Future plans: new content and co-op mode

During the early access phase , Dragonkin: The Banished will be expanded through regular updates. New skills, additional content, and fresh game modes – especially for the endgame – are already planned. In addition, the story will be expanded to include a fourth playable character, and more fragments will be added to the Ancestral Grid for even more customization options.

Another highlight awaits the community in fall 2025: a co-op mode that enables online games with up to four players is planned for release then. This will make Montescail a shared center where friends can tackle quests and face exciting battles together.

The Demo of Dragonkin: The Banished is available now. Early Access starts on March 6, 2025 on Steam, while the final version of the game will also be released for consoles.
