Dune: Spice Wars brings back the popular universe around the desert planet Arrakis. The game is being developed by the same people who already produced an esteemed strategy game with Northgard. Spice Wars is also supposed to be a real-time strategy game to some extent. However, not in the same way as the classic Dune 2 from 1992. Instead, the new Dune relies more on 4X mechanics.
So, at its core, it’s not just about building an army and flattening the enemy. Players also have to become politically active, spy, research and expand their influence on the surrounding countryside. Dune: Spice Wars is scheduled to go into Early Access in spring 2022.
