If you’re tired of running through the city of Dying Light 2, you can just hop on your functional bike.

We admit it in no uncertain terms: This time we gave you false hope with the teaser image without batting an eyelid. Because if you thought that the bike found in Dying Light 2 actually had a pretty basket full of flowers on it, we have to disappoint you.

But that’s no reason to abandon ourselves to the zombies on the streets of Villedor at night. Because the rest of the content promised is the truth, and nothing but the truth. The developers of Dying Light 2 have indeed hidden a bike in the game code, which has now been pulled out of the garage by modders. We’ll explain how you can pedal it too in just a few minutes.

How to get the cool bike
It doesn’t even take much work to get your hands on the bike. You need the mod Developer Menu, which brings the original developer menu back into the game with numerous options. But first things first, here are the step-by-step instructions:

* Download the mod from (Nexusmods)

  • Unpack the archive. Now copy the data2.pak contained in it to a specific location in your installation directory, more precisely:
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dying Light 2\ph\source (Steam)
  • C:\Programs (x86)\Epic Games\Dying Light 2\ph\source (Epic)
  • You can then start the game. In the game menu you will now find the Hints tab, which will take you to the developer menu.
  • Click on the category Items and then enter bicycle in the search bar. Click on the name to spawn the item.
  • You will immediately be placed on the bicycle, don’t be surprised. If you want to get off, simply press the jump button. You can then get on as usual by pressing the F button.

What’s the bike for?

The new vehicle is fully functional and will take you to your desired place in the city in no time at all. However, there are a few stumbling blocks that could quickly end your tour.

For one thing, the speed of the bicycle is so high that you are constantly on a confrontation course in the often winding streets that are full of all kinds of debris (and zombies). On the other hand, the camera perspective, or more precisely Aiden’s FOV (Field-of-View), is not designed for this form of mobility. Sensitive stomachs should therefore steer clear of this mod.

But if you really need to move fast or want to try out all the things you can do with your bike in the open world, you can spend a few extremely entertaining hours with this mod.

Enjoyable hours or not, that Dying Light 2 could have been so much better is an open secret. And it’s also well known that development was bumpy and many features had to be cut. The result is a far from exhausted potential.

Have you already tried the mod? How do you rate the handling and the camera view that takes some getting used to? Do you wish the developers had officially left the bike in the game? Let us know in the comments
