Update 1.2 for Dying Light 2 improves many criticisms, including the combat system, ragdoll physics and endings. Here are the patch notes.

Dying Light 2 will receive a major update on 9 March that makes a number of adjustments. The patch is already available for download on Steam. In addition to fixing game-destroying bugs, improvements to the combat system, new ragdoll physics and more excitement in the night gameplay will also find their way into the zombie slasher.

Here we list the most important adjustments that developer Techland is making in update 1.2.0 for Dying Light 2.

Highlights from Update 1.2

The improvements and fixes span across numerous elements of Dying Light 2.

  • Game-destroying bugs: All of Techland’s known so-called death loops, which cause players to die repeatedly when respawning, have been eliminated. Quest stoppers and safety zone bugs that prevented sleeping should also be a thing of the past.
  • Improved combat system: zombies should now cling to you more often. In addition, blunt weapons should now feel heavier, also due to improved hit feedback on enemies. In addition, human enemies are now able to block your attacks better.

The combat system was one of Dying Light 2’s greatest strengths in the test, even before the improvements.

    • Better physics: The ragdolls of the enemies should now behave more realistically. For example, they now react more differently to the different types of weapons. In addition, the sounds made when coming into contact with the environment should now correspond to the material of the surface
    • Harsher depiction of violence: Techland simplifies the severing of body parts and adds more blood effects in Dying Light 2.
    • More Challenging Nights: Especially at night, Dying Light 2 will be harder, which addresses a big criticism from fans. Hunting level 4 is now supposed to be more difficult to survive. In general, Howlers will recognise you from a greater distance, are less easy to take out with ranged weapons, and will immediately sound the alarm on a failed attack. And the infamous Shadow Hunters will come out of hiding earlier and join the hunt.
    • Rounder Co-op: Story blockers and crashes in multiplayer have also been addressed in patch 1.2.
    • New endings and final boss fight: The final boss in Dying Light 2 gets alternative behaviour patterns. Newly added scenes are meant to enhance the story’s ending

Better representation of light and shadow: Both the outdoor lighting and sun and spot shadows have been improved.
