Update 1.4 could finally make Dying Light 2 harder

When update 1.4 for Dying Light 2 will be released and what exactly it will deliver is currently unknown. Lead designer Tymon Smektala from Techland let it slip that a new patch for the open world game is in the works. The announcement is not really surprising, as the developers have already emphasised several times that Dying Light 2 will be supported for several more years.

Survival mode could come: Smektala already reveals that update 1.4 for Dying Light 2 will hopefully deliver a kind of survival mode. Since the release, many fans had already wished for this difficulty level or game mode, as the game was often criticised for being too easy.

According to Smektala, the Techland team itself is very interested in a survival mode for Dying Light 2 – even if the developers do not have too much experience in this area. The basic framework for the survival mode is said to already be in place so that it will hopefully land in the game with update 1.4.

What does the survival mode of Dying Light 2 look like? There is currently no concrete information about the planned feature, but Smektala himself calls it a survival mode light. The difficulty level should not be too complex, should fit seamlessly into the existing game and should feel right. What exactly that means remains to be seen.

Smektala provided the info in response to a tweet from a fan who would like to see Dying Light 2’s survival mode include the following features: eating, drinking and using bandages to stop bleeding. Sleeping regularly would also be a feature that corresponds to classic survival modes.
