The FIFA successor expands its monetization with a Premium Season Pass that also includes rewards for Career Mode

EA Sports FC 25has been officially announced. While many players are excited about the upcoming season in the FIFA successor, one detail in particular is likely to cause heated discussions in the community: the new paid Season Pass. But this time EA is going one step further and is also introducing monetization in the popular career mode

Paid Season Pass – what’s inside

Traditionally, the Ultimate Team mode has been the main arena for microtransactions in EA’s soccer games. With EA FC 25, however, EA Sports is expanding the system to other modes. The new Season Pass will include rewards for Career, Pro Club and Ultimate Team modes

When asked byVG247Karthik Venkateshan, Producer of Ultimate Team Mode, replied that the free pass will work in a similar way to EA FC 24, while the Premium Pass will come with additional rewards. This means that players who are willing to pay more will also be able to access special content in Career Mode.

You can purchase the Season Pass either with Coins or the real money currency FC Points. The exact price is not yet known

Richard Waltz, Game Design Director for Ultimate Team, emphasizes that there will be no exclusive rewards in the premium tier that will force you to buy the paid upgrade.

However, the paid pass offers additional rewards that provide tangible benefits.

In Ultimate Team mode, these include players or player packs. The cosmetic customization options that are included as rewards should be usable in several modes.

A look at other titles shows that paid Season Passes and Battle Passes are often only found in games that can be downloaded and played for free. Here, the microtransactions are used to finance ongoing development and server costs.

However, EA Sports FC 25 is a full-price game (just like Activision’s Call of Duty) and even the Ultimate Edition, which costs €100, does not include the Premium Pass. It remains to be seen which rewards are actually included and whether the Pay2Win will take on new dimensions if, for example, the players included are particularly powerful for FUT.
