Gentleman, start your engines! With a whole load of new features, F1 23 is set to deliver a dominant start-to-finish victory

EA and Codemasters have announced F1 23 . This in itself is not a surprise, after all, every year since 2010 a new official game for the Formula 1 World Championship is released. The racer will be released on June 16, 2023 for PC, Xbox One / Series X/S as well as PlayStation 4 and 5.

Before the red light goes out and we speed away with the news, you best watch the official Reveal trailer first:

In the run-up there were already some rumors about which changes and innovations the virtual hobby racers among us can look forward to this year. This time, the most talked-about feature among the fans is likely to be the greatly expanded online component called F1 World. But one after the other, let”s start with another big innovation.

Braking Point 2

What was considered an open secret is now confirmed: Story Mode is returning for the first time since F1 2021. To make the comeback clear in the title as well, this year”s story is Braking Point 2, which will mainly be about the fictional Konnersport Butler F1 Racing Team and its driver Devon Butler, who will probably be just as obnoxious as in previous installments of the series.

There are no further details about the plot yet. Given the predecessors, however, we can assume that plenty of racing driver clichés will be used again, which should at least ensure a dense atmosphere.

F1 World is expected to take online activities to a new level

Already last year, F1 Life was an innovation that didn”t appeal to many racing purists. It was a kind of social hub for your racing avatar, including your own living room, luxury sports cars and branded clothes.

This year the Life becomes a whole World Because with F1 World there will also be a new progression system starting this year. The principle is similar to the seasons of popular online shooters. On the (official website) it says:

Progress all season long with a new progression system: complete challenges, compete for rewards, earn upgrades, and grab lifelike F1 liveries, suits, and helmets.

Whether F1 World will be better received by fans than F1 Life with this concept remains to be seen. There is currently no information on the topic of microtransactions.

So a rather small pit stop?

Was that all? Well, almost. We were able to collect a few new features for you. But of course it can”t be ruled out that more features will be unveiled in the coming weeks until the release.

  • New routes: With Las Vegas and Qatar, as in reality, two new courses join the portfolio this year.
  • Red flags: Anyone who follows the real Formula 1 knows: as soon as a leaf falls on the road, there is a red flag. In order to convey this feeling authentically, you can now also look forward to race interruptions in F1 23.
  • 35-percent-races: The previous race lengths are now joined by another one. This is Codemasters” response to a long-standing request from many fans, who have often found 25-percent races too short, while 50-percent stages have been too long.

That”s all about EA Sports F1 23 for now, what do you think about the changes and innovations compared to its predecessor? We are especially interested in your opinion on the new F1 World! Do you like the idea of unlockable rewards that will keep you playing for months? Feel free to write us your opinion in the comments!
