On Steam, Elden Ring has already made it to number 6 of the most played titles of all time. Now the game is on the verge of breaking the one million mark.
It was already foreseeable that Elden Ring would be a successful game. After all, From Software has earned the trust of the fans with its previous titles and their anticipation was correspondingly great in advance. But the fact that the title has also made such an impact on the PC is quite impressive.
On Steam, Elden Ring has already reached number 6 of the most played titles of all time. Five bosses still have to be defeated on the way to the top. Despite its current popularity, this is likely to be a mammoth task. Let’s take a look at the numbers in detail.
A true perennial, but for how much longer?
As always, a look at SteamDB is enough to become smarter. Here you can see above all that Elden Ring can captivate players for a very long time thanks to its open world with its numerous secrets and challenges. Because so far, no downward trend can be seen in the daily player numbers since release on 25 February 2022, quite the opposite.
However, the past teaches us that this initial heyday after the release of a game is limited in time. If Elden Ring wants to climb even further up the top-10, this should happen in the coming days or weeks.
But even with the sixth place already conquered, Elden Ring has achieved success, already leaving behind other titles with a strong launch phase, such as New World or the survival hit Valheim. Even older community favourites like Terraria have already had to give up their place.
Also interesting: Together with Cyberpunk 2077, which by the way would be the next potential victim, Elden Ring is the only title in the top ten that (almost) exclusively relies on a single player experience.
Place 1 probably won’t be
What are the chances for Elden Ring to advance to the top spot? Honestly: very slim. After all, the undisputed Steam king, PUBG: Battlegrounds, has a whopping 3,257,247 simultaneously active players, while Elden Ring currently (as of 6 March) has only 953,426 daring adventurers getting their asses kicked at the same time
As already mentioned, Cyberpunk 2077 (5th place with 1,054,388 players) is still within striking distance. Even the gap to Dota 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and the new MMO hit Lost Ark is limited. So it remains exciting whether Elden Ring will be able to defeat some of these bosses in the near future.
The fact that Elden Ring can confidently be called a masterpiece has now also been backed up by the player numbers.
