Elden Ring could become a mobile game based on the free2play model of Genshin Impact. However, development is probably progressing slowly
Elden Ring is not necessarily the first game that would make you think of a mobile spin-off game. But this is apparently already in the works at Chinese gaming giant Tencent. A release date is not yet in sight, but the first details of the payment model are already known
What Elden Ring Mobile should be based on
The information comes from the news portal Reuters, which in turn refers to three anonymous insider sources. They are not officially confirmed, but we rate the report as credible. Nevertheless, keep in mind that neither FromSoftware nor Tencent have commented on the alleged mobile plans for Elden Ring
According to this, the mobile spin-off is to be based on the free2play model of Genshin Impact. This is basically a free game, but one in which numerous in-game purchases are possible, which make new content (such as game characters, cosmetics) accessible and accelerate progress.
It is conceivable, for example, that you could get new weapons, armor or resources in loot boxes in Elden Ring Mobile (the title of which is not yet known). At this point in time, however, this is speculation
When will the game be released? According to Reuters, Tencent acquired the license rights from FromSoftware in 2022 and “a few dozen people” have been working on the mobile spin-off since then. However, progress on development is slow, so an official announcement is probably still some way off.
Many big games will also be released as mobile versions at some point, just think of The Elder Scrolls, PUBG or Call of Duty. No wonder, the market is huge and generates billions of US dollars in revenue every year. Would you be interested in an Elden Ring Mobile or is a Souls-like on mobile out of the question for you?
