The second update for Elden Ring takes care of start-up problems caused by the anti-cheat system and should also improve the performance in the game. We have all the changes for you.

Since the launch of Elden Ring, many PC adventurers have been plagued by technical problems. This recently led to the new game from From Software being rated poorly on Steam by disappointed users and the developer even felt forced to make a statement.

Now the second patch for Elden Ring is live, which is supposed to take care of the performance problems, among other things. But other problem areas are also being addressed to improve the game experience. We have all the info for you.

All info on patch 1.02.1

When will the patch be released? No need to wait, the new update is already out and will be downloaded and installed automatically by Steam unless you have manually disabled this option.

How big is the patch? Small but mighty: Patch 1.02.1 is just under 10 MB in size, but brings some much-needed improvements.

What does the patch change? The (official changelog) lists all changes, including those that only apply to the PlayStation or Xbox versions. The following highlights are explicitly mentioned for the PC:

* (Optimised Performance) : Of course, most PC players will be interested in the performance improvements. These are said to be achieved by reducing the amount of files that need to be loaded when changing areas.

* (Better mouse control) : Those who also have problems with the mouse control can also listen up. From Software has also improved this and optimised the control system.

* (Crashes due to EAC) : A fix is also mentioned explicitly for the PC, which affects the Easy Anti Cheat software that is used. Until now, the copy protection meant that the game either did not start at all – or crashed again shortly after starting. This problem, too, should now be a thing of the past.

How do you feel after the patch? Have you noticed the desired performance improvements, or has everything remained the same? Feel free to write us your experience reports in the comments
