An experienced VR modder is currently working on Elden Ring. In a first video, we can already see how impressive the intermediate lands look from the first-person perspective.
Do I really want to see the gigantic weapon of a monstrous creature flying straight at my head? If you answered yes to that question, then the Elden Ring VR mod is probably for you. Luke Ross, who already made Read Dead Redemption 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 playable in VR, is now planning the same for Elden Ring. Find out what that looks like and why you shouldn’t get sick despite the constant dodging rolls here.
This is what Elden Ring looks like in VR
Huge glowing trees, seemingly ancient overgrown ruins: The world of Elden Ring already looks magical. But also and especially in the first-person perspective and in VR, the game must be a fascinating experience. The best thing is to take a look at the first video of the VR mod yourself:
The Website (PC Gamer) spoke to Luke Ross about his project and got more details. As can also be seen in the video, Ross is focusing on making the VR mod playable from a first-person perspective. While it will probably also be possible to play in third-person, the modder does not recommend that: That way, it feels like the action is happening far away from you, robbing players of the desired immediacy of a VR experience.
What about motion sickness?
To remedy the motion sickness that often occurs with VR glasses, which could become a problem especially during the dodge rolls in Elden Ring, Ross has come up with a trick. The camera follows the position of the character’s head, but does not rotate with it. So the world around you doesn’t suddenly turn upside down, rather a roll must seem more like a duck.
Nevertheless, you will of course move around a lot in the VR version of Elden Ring. According to Ross, the mod is therefore intended more for experienced users of VR glasses. You should probably either have no problems with motion sickness or use dodge rolls very sparingly. For some players, this would probably be a welcome challenge:

Can you try Elden Ring in VR?
At the moment the VR mod is still in development. Luke Ross plans to publish his project at the end of April, even though it will not be finished by then. In order to travel to the interlands with VR goggles yourself, you have to support Ross’ work via (Patreon).
