    Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on February 28, 2025 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. So you can also play the new Monster Hunter on PC right at release, where the game will be released on Steam.

    What about the Switch? A version for the Nintendo Switch is not currently planned. Capcom made this clear in July 2024 in a financial report .

    Open Beta: When does the new Monster Hunter Wilds open beta start?

    In February, there will be a new open beta, which will take place on two dates:

    Gameplay: How does Monster Hunter Wilds play?

    Monster Hunter Wilds will continue the core mechanics of the series, but it will also bring some innovations:

  • Large game world: The game world of Monster Hunter Wilds will be about twice as large as in previous installments of the series. As usual, the world is divided into different regions that are connected to each other. So there is no large, contiguous open world, but the biomes themselves are much more spacious and should offer a lot of variety.
  • More story:Compared to World, Wilds seems to serve more story aspects. Of course, hunting is still in the foreground, but it is staged much better in some places. Nevertheless, you shouldn’t expect complex or emotional missions in Wilds either.
  • A fresh approach to combat:Even though the combat mechanics will not change much, there are a few innovations. In Wilds, you can use the new focus mode , which shows the wounds of a monster. If you attack them, you can do significantly more damage. You can now also take two weapons with you on the hunt and switch them while you’re on the move. Finally, dynamic weather will have a greater influence on your fights, so you’ll always have to watch out for changes in the weather.
  • Quests in the world:As soon as you have completed a quest, you don’t have to return to base, but can move on directly and look for new challenges in the world. You can also find and start new missions in the world if you deal enough damage to a monster, for example.
