A YouTuber set out on his own to find out how big the cheater problem is in Escape From Tarkov. The result is frightening.

In the hardcore shooter Escape from Tarkov there have been major problems with cheaters for quite some time. The YouTuber g0at has now set out to find out how big these problems really are. The shocking result is that cheaters are out and about in at least 60 percent of matches.

How did he find out?

Because g0at is not an Escape From Tarkov developer, he doesn”t have access to developer tools for you. So he had to take a more creative approach. He decided to cheat himself to expose other cheaters. He used a mod that allowed him to see the stats and locations of other players. If he had the impression that a player was cheating, he would do the Wiggle, as he calls it himself. In doing so, he moves alternately to the left and to the right. If the other player then also moves to the right and left in the same cycle, he knew for sure that it was a cheater.

He tested this in 125 matches. The result: In 60 percent of the matches, obvious cheaters were detected. This means that the actual number is probably even higher, as he simply wasn”t sure about some of them and it can”t be assumed that he detected all of them.

For those who have enough time and are fluent in English, you can watch g0at”s entire video here:

What measures are currently in place against cheaters?

The developer Battlestate Games states that they ban thousands of players from their servers every day. The fact that so many cheaters still appear does not mean that they are not found. As a rule, these players are not banned the moment they are noticed, so that it is less obvious how they were caught. However, the fact that this system never keeps all cheaters out can be seen in the video by g0at.

What do you think of cheaters in games? Do you see them as an annoying side effect of online games that robs you of fun, or do you see them more as a challenge? Have you perhaps even cheated yourself? If so, in which game was it? Write it in the comments!
