The Elder Scrolls Online’s new DLC delivers new areas, storylines and free quest boosts – and now has a release date.
The year of Oblivion in The Elder Scrolls Online continues! The big story DLC Deadlands takes you to the Deadlands and lets you face Mehrunes Dagon in the final battle. More details and the release date have now been revealed in the Bethesda stream. In addition, you can already play the free prologue. We summarise what you can expect in ESO in 2021
What’s in the new story DLC
The Deadlands story concludes the year-long adventure “The Gates of Oblivion”. You enter the portal to the namesake Deadlands to stop the Prince of Destruction Mehrunes Dagon and close the gates to his realm once more. There will be new locations – including familiar ones from The Elder Scrolls 4 – new characters and, most importantly, a series of story quests. After completing the main series of Blackwood and Deadlands, players will also unlock a bonus quest series that the developers have described as the highlight of the Oblivion story.
When will ESO Deadlands be released? The DLC will be released on PC on November 1, 2021. The console version for Xbox and PlayStation will follow on November 16, 2021. You can already catch a first glimpse in the teaser:
How to play the beginning of Deadlands free of charge
Like all the big DLCs, Deadlands again has a free prologue quest for everyone to play right now.
How do you get the free quest? As usual, the prologue “An Apocalyptic Situation” can be found in the ingame crown shop. There you can download it for free – even without owning previous DLCs. Then you will be called to the aid of the Dremora Lyranth to investigate the Order of the Awakening Flame. The reward is a unique mask that you can only unlock in this quest.
Blackwood at half price: If you haven’t played the prequel addon Blackwood yet, you can currently get the chapter at 50 percent off. The promotion runs until 11 October on Steam, in the ESO Store and on PlayStation and Xbox.
Deadlands marks the end of ESO’s new story content for 2021. At the same time, the free update 23 will also be released, which, among other things, is supposed to drastically improve the loot system by only looting set items that you are still missing in your collection. This should make the grind for sets much more pleasant. In the new year, the focus will be on a new adventure and also a new area.
