During the Paradox Announcement Show, the expansion Europa Universalis IV: Domination had already been announced. Now the expansion finally gets a release date.

Europa Universalis IV: Domination is the first expansion of this year for the historical grand strategy game by Paradox Interactive. You can expect new historical aspects and decisions for many of the most popular and powerful nations. Varied gameplay comes from new mission trees, historical government reforms, state challenges and units. But you also have to make difficult decisions in branching missions that can have devastating consequences. For example, some possible rewards can be completely ruled out.

Seven major empires will receive extensive updates in Europa Universalis IV: Domination. In addition, there are mission changes, new governments, new government mechanics and expanded gameplay value for the smaller nations of Prussia, Portugal and Korea. The following overview reveals which changes are coming to the Ottoman Empire, China, Japan, Russia, Spain and Great Britain.

Asia on the rise

– The Ottoman Empire: A revamped conquest tree with new rewards for advancing Ottoman dominance, including expansion through the new Eyalet system, and new internal changes such as the new Janissary Estate and the “Ottoman Power Struggle”.

– China: Different mission trees for the Han Ming and invader empires like Qing. Players must choose between Expansion and Inner Perfection and counter the power of the eunuchs to build a stable empire.

– Japan: Players can unify Japan by confronting the power of Shogun and the independent Daimyo. You can open the country to foreign influence or keep it isolated by rejecting other expansion paths and reforms.

– Russia: Players can free their country from the Tartar yoke and transform it into a great empire. By opting for Peter”s reforms, the state is modernised, and thus both the mission tree and mechanics change and evolve throughout the game. To expand the empire east and west, the power of the Cossacks and the Strikers can be used.

Europe takes up arms

– Spain: Expanded mission trees for Castile and Aragon, with different ways to shape Spain as well as a new mechanic for the new “Hispanic Monarchy” government and army and navy decisions to get the powerful Tercios and the Spanish Armada.

– France: Players fight towards the end of the Hundred Years War, centralizing France into an absolute monarchy while dealing with the Wars of Religion, expanding into Italy as well as the Holy Roman Empire, and leading the Revolution through an expanded mission tree.

– Great Britain: A path must be taken, either for a British Empire or an Angevin Britain. In addition, Great Britain contains deeper internal gameplay, with unique features for the English Parliament and changes to the disaster of the English Civil War.

Europa Universalis IV: Domination will be released on 18 April for PC via Microsoft Store, (Steam), (GOG) and (Epic Games Store).
