There is finally news about the big Factorio addon. And the developers promise lots of new content.

The finale of the building game fan favourite Factorio has been a while coming. Over a year ago, the last update was announced in the form of a large add-on, but since then players have waited in vain for news. Now the developers have spoken and the wait seems to be worth it.

As big as the main game

In a new (blogpost), the developers at Factorio give an update on the current state of the addon – and what fans can expect from it:

“The goal is for the addon to feel as big as the full vanilla game. That’s why we’re planning on a $30 price point, and we’ll bring enough content to make it worth the price.”

Setting the price and scope is also said to be an important step towards release. Currently, “large parts are playable” and a full prototype is being worked on.

In addition, there is a detailed release plan in seven steps to read up on – according to this, there is to be an extensive beta test before release, to which major mod developers are invited, in particular to test the mod tool and give valuable feedback.

It is planned that the big update 1.2 will be installed for all players at the time of the release. This contains many improvements independent of the new content. Buyers of the add-on will then receive the major new content as a freely activatable mod. This way, players can continue to play together in multiplayer without buying the add-on and there will be a compatible game version for all.

Even in Early Access, the game fascinated with fresh mechanics and a high addiction factor. Since then, a lot has happened with the project:

Are you already part of the Factorio community? What do you particularly like about the building game? Or would you like to give it a chance when the add-on is released? Tell us in the comments
