Bethesda’s first Fallout game is getting a refresh. But until it comes out, players from back in the day could use a refresh as well.
The big leak about Oblivion Remastered is causing quite a stir, with rumors that it could even be released this month. Of course, this quickly raises the question: What about Fallout 3?
When the plan for a remake of Oblivion was first made public, there was another project mentioned: Fallout 3 Remastered. The documents relating to this were revealed during the takeover of Microsoft and Activision Blizzard in 2023.
Now a fan has asked insider NateTheHate2 on X (formerly Twitter) whether the project has been scrapped or is still in the works. NateTheHate2 responds succinctly:
Planned, but will take a while
How trustworthy is the insider?
NateTheHate2 has made some accurate predictions in the past, most recently regarding the Switch 2. This also fits with the information we know from the 2023 leak.
It says that Fallout 3 Remastered is supposed to be released in the same year as The Elder Scrolls 6. Only Bethesda boss Todd Howard knows how far away this release is. The first teaser was released seven years ago.
Either way, the information about Fallout 3 Remastered is based solely on unofficial insider knowledge and leaks from two years ago. As always, a certain amount of skepticism is warranted, even if the information sounds very plausible.
But if you still don’t want to miss out on the post-apocalypse, you currently only have a handful of options. The Fallout series is getting a second season, but there’s no release date yet. Fallout 5 is also supposed to be coming, but that will certainly be a few years after Elder Scrolls 6.
The latest excursions into the nuclear wasteland are Fallout 76, which still receives regular updates, and the huge fan project Fallout: London, which was released last year. You can find more information in the news above.
