Does the merchant Cricket from Fallout 4 make an appearance in the Amazon series? It looks like it, but there’s a good argument against it

The Fallout series does not adapt a game from the series, but stands on its own two feet. Of course, there are countless Easter eggs and allusions to be discovered everywhere  Fans even believe they have recognized an old acquaintance from Fallout 4

Wait a minute, isn’t that a merchant from Fallout 4?

Slight spoiler warning for episode 5: When Lucy (Ella Purnell) and Maximus (Aaron Clifton Moten) try to cross a bridge on foot, they encounter two shady characters. When the diplomatic route fails, a firefight ensues in which the two strangers are killed – and one of them looks suspiciously similar to an NPC from Fallout 4.

This refers to the merchant and institute spy (but shhhh!) Cricket who travels through the Commonwealth in Fallout 4 and from whom we can buy weapons and sell our scrap metal. Cricket doesn’t exactly make the healthiest impression and it’s reasonable to assume that the dealer has a certain weakness for Chems.

Back to the Fallout series: Cricket looks outrageously similar to one of the two cannibals that Lucy and Maximus run into. The jacket, the cap, the scarf, the bloodshot eyes and even the hole in the cap fit like a glove.

This is why some fans suspect that it could actually be Cricket from Fallout 4.

The Fallout series is actually set just nine years after the events of the role-playing game, so by 2296 Cricket could actually have made it from the Commonwealth to Los Angeles, almost 4,800 kilometers away. (According to Google Maps, this would take around 45 days on foot.)

But no reunion with cricket?

However, despite the striking resemblance between the two characters, there is one important point that speaks against it: In IMDb the character of actress Mitzi Akaha in the Fallout series is identified as Rink, who even has her own entry in the Fallout wiki with very sparse information.

And of course, it probably doesn’t make too much sense that Cricket is wearing the exact same clothes nine years later and 4,800 more. Even if she decided to take a different career path after her job as a trader

Of course, the obvious parallels between Cricket and Rink cannot be denied. Perhaps it’s an Easter Egg for fans of Fallout 4. Perhaps a costume designer has knowingly or unknowingly taken inspiration from Cricket. Maybe it really is Cricket, who was out and about in LA under a new name
