To the question“If Bethesda or Microsoft offered you to lead another Fallout project, what would your answer be? ‘he initially responded with a hesitant’Um…sure ”, followed by a laugh. But then he continued:
It’s always to do with what we’re allowed to do. What are the boundaries within which we move? What are we allowed to do and what are we not allowed to do? With every IP I’ve worked with so far, the question has been: What do I want to do that I couldn’t do before? If the restrictions are too great, it’s not very appealing. Who would like to work on something where the one thing you want to try is not possible?
So it’s all about his creative freedom. At the same time, he makes it clear once again for Fallout:
I love the Fallout IP. There are still a lot of stories that can be told. And questions that could be asked about society.
At the end, he adds that every IP works in this way. You always have to ask yourself what you are allowed to do and what you are not. So if Bethesda or Microsoft wanted to hire Josh Sawyer for another Fallout game, they would have to give him as free a hand as possible.
