A small team of modders releases the fan expansion Entropy : Zero 2 for Half-Life 2 on Steam. And it goes down incredibly well with a whopping 98 percent positive rating.

The modder Breadman is not an unknown name in the Half-Life community. With Entropy : Zero, he created a rather short but incredibly good prequel story for Half-Life 2 five years ago. He has now enlisted modder support for the second part – and the result is impressive. Out of almost 2,000 reviews, 98 percent have been positive so far.

But not to keep you in suspense any longer, you can see the trailer for the mod here:

What’s it about?

Entropy : Zero 2 continues the events of the first part. You play the alien overlord collaborator, known only as Bad Cop. You have to stop the rebel Dr. Judith Mossman and follow Gordon Freeman, main character from the original game, through a prison.

There are also some allusions to Valve’s Portal games, which take place in the same universe. First and foremost, there is the robot Wilson, who accompanies you on your way.

What’s in it?

The mod includes seven chapters that should keep you on your toes for seven to ten hours. The entire story is dubbed and animated. You can also look forward to new enemies, new effects and new weapons. For example, you can use Xen grenades to suck in your victims and objects. In return, however, a Xen monster spawns.

Fans are thrilled so far: 98 percent positive reviews speak volumes. User JazzMaster writes that it is the closest thing to Half-Life 3 at the moment. Eljen Nelyafinwë thinks that calling Etropy : Zero 2 just a mod would almost be an insult and symbolically awards it 10 out of 10 points. Steam user Zero even thinks it’s better than Half-Life: Alyx.

How do you install the mod?

For all owners of Half-Life 2 the mod is playable for free You can simply download it (on Steam).

Will you give Entropy: Zero 2 a try or will you rather wait eagerly for Half-Life 3? Drop us a line in the comments
