Farming in Pokémon Unite – How to get an advantage

Farming is extremely important in a MOBA like Pokémon Unite. But it’s even more important to know how to do it. We’ll show you how it’s done.

Before we start, we should first clarify what farming in Pokémon Unite actually means. If you’ve already familiarised yourself with the map, you should have noticed that there are Pokémon on the lanes and in the centre (also called Jungle) that are not controlled by any player: the wild Pokémon. You can take them out to get stronger and level up your abilities.

Players who farm more effectively than their opponents or team members will advance faster in the match. That’s why good farming management is so important.

Where do I farm?

At the beginning of each round, you decide which lane you will go to. Normally, two team members are on the top and bot lane, one player is in the jungle.

The map shows all lanes in Pokémon Unite. Top laners are in the red area, bot laners in the blue. The yellow part of the map is for the jungler. On your lane, you should eliminate all wild Pokémon in order to level up quickly. The pink line contains neutral Pokémon like Zapdos, which can and should be attacked by both teams throughout the game.

The Jungle belongs to the Jungler

If you’re not in the Jungle, it’s important to focus on your lane and not steal the wild Pokémon from your teammate in the centre. Most junglers need every single monster in their area to quickly become stronger and to be able to support you on your lane in case of emergency. If you even take one of their camps, junglers can fall behind for the entire match.

This can also have consequences for you. If you are facing overpowered opponents on your lane, the jungler can support you. But if he is behind because you have snatched one or two wild Pokémon away from him, the fight will not be fun. So try to avoid this mistake as much as possible.

Additional Tips

1. Steal wild Pokémon

As you’ve probably noticed, you can farm on more than just your side of the map. Once you’ve killed your opponents, you should take as many wild Pokémon from them as possible. This will give you a big advantage over your lane rivals, because while you level up quickly, your opponents will fall behind.

2. Defeat Neutral Pokémon

As mentioned earlier, there are both wild and neutral Pokémon on the map. The latter give you buffs when you defeat them and can also give you a big advantage. Here, you should work together with your teammates as much as possible. Zapdos, for example, can only be beaten with combined forces, but will often bring you victory.

Zapdos is arguably the most important neutral Pokémon in Pokémon Unite

But beyond that, don’t forget tip 1 in our list. For example, if you defeat the opponent’s Jungler and have the opportunity to leave your lane, you should take some wild Pokémon from them.

3. Know your Pokémon’s limits

Some Pokémon are easier to farm with than others. Therefore, you should always know how much your character can take and when it’s better to retreat. It’s often better to be safe than sorry than to risk your life for a wild Pokémon.
