The voice actor of the G-Man is raising hopes for news about the shooter series in 2025 with a message on social media.
It’s a well-kept running gag here in the editorial office: Whenever one of us has Sunday or holiday shift, Half-Life 3
is bound to be announced.
Well. Today, this joke could suddenly become serious. We have known for months that Valve has something Half-Life related in the works. Now, just in time for New Year’s Eve, a new tweet has given fans more hope than ever.
The G-Man speaks to us
Mike Shapiro is a voice you’ve probably never met, but you know his voice. He is the voice of the G-Man, the mysterious character from the Half-Life games.
Shapiro hasn’t posted on X (formerly Twitter) in years. Until now. On December 31, 2024, at 5 p.m. sharp, the voice actor will be back – with the hashtags 2025!

We have translated his statements for you:
Another year has passed. It’s great to see and hear so many of you. May the next quarter century hold as many… unexpected surprises
as the first one did. See you in the new year.
Shapiro presented the whole thing in the finest G-Man speak. Half-Life 3 confirmed? No, of course not. But there are some clues that are currently causing a stir among fans on social media:
- As already mentioned, this is Shapiro’s first tweet since 2020 He is not someone who would just have fun with fans.
- The tweet was sent at 11 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. Of course, it could just be a coincidence, but it seems likely that it was a timed and prepared tweet.
- A tweet very similar to has been posted by Shapiro before – in 2020, shortly before the release of Half-Life: Alyx
It’s still too early to believe that HL3 will be announced. But let’s put it this way: there’s a good chance that Valve will announce something new about the shooter series in 2025.
This is how fans react
We’ve mentioned the fans several times, so here’s a small excerpt from some threads on Reddit and other sites:
Oh wow, I can’t believe we’re finally getting a remaster of Aperture Desk Job!
(Link)I’m not even a big HL fan and that gave me goosebumps.
(Link)Imagine: It’s actually episode 3 and HL3 is still 15-20 years away.
(Link)In Half-Life 3, you’ll meet Barney again and he’ll finally buy you that beer.

And there are countless more OMG!
‘s that we can’t link to you individually. The enthusiasm in the community is definitely huge.
