A newly founded development studio presents its first project, codenamed Hornet. What we know so far about the co-op shooter

While some developer studios have been dissolved in the wake of redundancies in the industry, new ones are being founded all the time, such as Antistatic Studio. The company is made up of veterans who previously worked on Cyberpunk 2077, Bioshock, Borderlands and Squads, among others. The developers are now presenting their first shooter project

What is Project Hornet?

The game is a tactical co-op shooter with an open worldin which you investigate paranormal events and apparently fight monsters. A first, rather creepy trailer with a scary moment at the end has already been released. In the style of a bodycam shot, it shows two agents exploring a strange parallel dimension:

In a press release, the developers reveal further details about the shooter:

  • Post-apocalyptic scenario: Project Hornet is set in post-nuclear Europe, which appears to have been devastated by a nuclear war. You work for a mysterious organization called Mortfield Industries and prevent supernatural activities on their behalf.
  • Other Dimensions: Apparently we not only explore an open world, but also enter strange dimensions inhabited by dangerous beings through certain doors, as in the trailer.
  • Open World: According to the developers, the open world is created with the help of procedural generation. We can expect numerous dynamic events, secrets, as well as different factions and creatures. This should keep the game varied and keep us entertained for a long time.
  • Closed beta: Closed tests of the shooter are planned for a later date, for which you can register via the official website or Discord . However, registration is not yet possible.

A release date for the shooter has not yet been announced by the developers. While pre-production is already underway, actual development is not scheduled to start until later this year. So it might be a while before we hear more about the shooter, even though a demo will be shown behind closed doors in March 2024.

If you want to find out more about the world of Project Hornet, it’s worth taking a look at the website AnomaLeaks. This is where the developers publish stories from the world created for Project Hornet, providing you with exciting background information about the game

The developers have also set up a website for the fictitious company Mortfield Industries, but it only reveals that Mortfield is probably cultivating a deceptive philanthropic image.
