Forspoken: All info on the open-world game
Release: When will Forspoken be released?
Forspoken will be released on January 24, 2023 with an age rating of 16 years . The developers already released a PlayStation 5 demo in December 2022. Currently, we assume that the stated release date will be kept and not postponed again.
For which platforms is Forspoken coming?
Forspoken will be released for PC via Steam and Epic and for two years console-exclusively on the PS5. From 2025, you can expect a version for the Xbox Series X/S. The Playstation 4 and Xbox One will be left empty-handed. A first glimpse of the promised Next-Gen graphics

Official information from Square Enix regarding the system requirements for Forspoken is not yet available. The gaming platform Gamingcontrast states the PC system requirements as follows:

The recommended hardware parts have been on the market for a few years. So a reasonably modern PC should be able to play Forspoken without any problems.
Price: How much does Forspoken cost and what editions are available?
You can already pre-order the game, but on PC you will have to dig deeper into your pocket than usual, which causes displeasure among some players. Forspoken costs 80 euros in the standard version For the Digital Deluxe Edition with the following goodies, you will even have to pay 105 euros:

If you pre-order, you will also receive pre-order bonuses such as the Elite Cloak as a cape, the Spectra Combo Necklace as a necklace and the Overclock Nails as a nail design. Behind these are perks that modify or strengthen your magic – so these are by no means just cosmetic items.
Exclusively at Amazon you can also buy an edition including a steelbook for 80 Euros only for the PS5. A Collector”s Edition has not been announced yet.
Does Forspoken come with DLCs?
So far, an addon has been announced for Forspoken, which you can already pre-order as part of the Digital Deluxe Edition. Forspoken: In the Tanta We Trust
is a prequel to the story proper. The story follows the villains of Athia. The Tantas were once wise rulers who led the land until a dark force took possession of them. In the game, we fight them as the heroine Frey. Originally, the DLC was supposed to be released in winter 2022. Due to the postponements of the main game, this has been cancelled. A new date has not yet been announced given.
Will Forspoken be a role-playing game?
You read both action-adventure and action-role-playing game in combination with Forspoken. The open-world game moves between the two genres. The developers do not yet comment on whether there will be dialogue options or decisions. But they promise a deep RPG system in magic that you can dig into. In order to have the most fun with it, you will have to master it first.
Then you can design your own build for character Frey along with capes, nail designs and necklaces that promise special bonuses and play aggressively with flaming swords and lightning or rather defensively with traps and shields. Many different play styles should be valid. You get equipment mostly as rewards for tasks. So there will be no loot flood à la Diablo or Borderlands.
Hat Forspoken Multiplayer?
So far no co-op or PvP multiplayer has been announced for Forspoken.
Story: What is Forspoken about?
The story revolves around the girl Frey, who is sucked into the fantasy world of Athia via a portal from present-day New York The world is on the brink of destruction because an evil force called The Break is killing people and animals or turning them into monsters. The last survivors have fled to a city and are holding out there. Frey, however, is immune to the disaster and therefore becomes the last hope for the country.
She develops magical powers and finds an ally in the enchanted bangle Cuff, who can even talk (and bicker) with her. Not only must she unravel the mystery behind the Break, but she must also face the Tantas. The once benevolent rulers of the land have become renegade mages who now threaten it.
Gameplay: What kind of game will Forspoken be?
Forspoken, with its open-world, parkour interludes and plenty of action-packed spells, has some elements that are worth taking a closer look at.
What kind of open world does Forspoken offer?
According to the developer, the open world will primarily be an appealing backdrop for the story, which takes up the centre of the game. However, special events await you when you reach certain locations – for example, breakstorms. Behind these are dangerous waves of enemies, including a boss, in which Frey has to prove her skills.
In addition, you are supposed to find clues in ruins about the peoples and cultures of Athia that were almost wiped out by the Break – both in the form of documents and as stories in the environment. Otherwise, you can expect a 3D map that displays classic icons and quick travel points. The only lively place will be the city, which serves as the last refuge for the remaining people. So it may be that the open world feels rather empty and like a battle arena. Here you will apparently only encounter monsters.
How does the parkour work in the game?
Frey”s locomotion with the magical parkour is somewhat reminiscent of Spider-Man. She pulls herself through the vertical landscape at lightning speed on an enchanted grappling hook, climbs and jumps up obstacles or glides briefly through the air. According to the developers, this is possible anywhere in the game world, regardless of the terrain. However, Frey must first level up her locomotion and learn it properly. In addition, not all parkour skills are available in the city.

What can I expect from the magic of Forspoken?
Frey can learn four different types of magic that provide her with melee and ranged attacks, traps, projectiles, shields, dodge jumps, and more, but also have corresponding cooldowns depending on the force. In the footage so far, many elemental spells have been seen such as fiery blades, icicles sprouting from the ground, spheres of water trapping enemies, or vines whipping out of the ground.
You unlock new spells via mana. Frey also levels up, which increases health, healing and stamina. You can also find capes, nail designs or necklaces in the world that provide you with useful perks.

What is Isekai
and what does it have to do with the game?
The Japanese term Isekai
(in German: andere Welt) is often read in combination with Forspoken. This usually refers to anime or manga that deals with the experiences of a normal character from our world in a fantasy world or parallel universe. Even though the idea for games is relatively new, it has been very popular there for a long time – but not only in Japan. There are also western isekai stories, for example Alice in Wonderland or The Chronicles of Narnia.
With Forspoken, the term fits well not only because of the scenario – with Luminous Productions, a Japanese developer is behind it, made up of some Final Fantasy veterans.
Is there a demo?
There is one (Demo version for Playstation 5) that can be purchased for 25 cents. PC players are unfortunately left empty-handed.
What special PC features are there?
So far it is only known that Forspoken will use the upscaling tool FidelityFX and ray tracing . Exactly which effects and the required system requirements are still to be announced by the developer.
Which engine uses Forspoken?
Forspoken doesn”t use the Unreal Engine 4 or 5, but uses the developers” own Luminous Engine, which was already used in Final Fantasy 15. You can see what it can do in this video:
