This week the Epic Store is offering 3 games for free. We explain to you what the indie secret tips are about and for whom they might be worthwhile.
It would take a lot for a week to go by without free games from Epic. A freezing snowstorm, for example, that doesn’t let the admins into the data centre. Or a huge dungeon into which the entire Epic team is thrown. Of course, it’s also conceivable that they listen to Radiohead and forget the time, because who hasn’t had that happen to them?!
How did I come up with these three scenarios of all things? Well, because these are exactly what this week’s free games are all about! Because with the heartwarming Never Alone, the absurdly funny Guild of Dungeoneering and the concept game Kid A Mnesia Exhibition, things are very experimental overall.
The promotion runs from 18 to 25 November 2021 If you buy during this period, you can keep all three games permanently. The only requirement: You need an Epic account.

Who are the games for?
Never Alone
You slip into the skin of Nuna. The brave girl sets out to find the cause of an everlasting snowstorm and can count on the energetic help of an arctic fox.
In single-player mode, you control both characters and have to survive numerous adventures, explore caves and overcome enemies on your way through the icy tundra. The storyline of Never Alone was developed in cooperation with the Iñupiat, the indigenous people of Alaska, and is based on their ancient folklore.
On (Steam), a whopping 81 percent of over 5,000 players rate the game positively. The press, on the other hand, gives it a lower rating, which is reflected on (Metacritic) in an average score of 72 out of 100. And what do we say?

Guild of Dungeoneering
Do you like games that take a familiar game principle and turn it upside down to create a completely new experience? Then Guild of Dungeoneering is worthy of your discerning eye.
Because the turn-based dungeon crawler doesn’t just let you play a run-of-the-mill hero who bravely wanders through the unfamiliar vaults and smashes everything that looks like a monster. Rather, you control the dungeon itself and create it around the hero!
You do this with cards in your deck. There are a variety of different cards, such as rooms, monsters, traps and loot – because what would a dungeon be without worthwhile loot?! In between games, you can then expand your guild, create new adventurers and, of course, expand your pack of cards.
On (Steam) the verdict of almost 1,400 players is: Mostly positive. The trade press also agrees with this mixed verdict and gives it an average of 72 out of 100 points on (Metacritic).

Kid A Mnesia Exhibition
The first two games weren’t experimental enough for you? Then the third free title should be something for you at the latest, because here you can hardly speak of a game.
Kid A Mnesia Exhibition is basically a concept album turned into a game. According to the developers, you roam through a digital-analogue universe that is upside down. So apparently you can expect a musical walking simulator without any playful depth. The project was created in collaboration with Radiohead and features original artwork and recordings from the album of the same name, Kid A Mnesia.
Since the game is only being released today, there are no user opinions yet. Kid A Mnesia Exhibition will not be released on Steam anyway. But hey, the album has a fabulous 97 percent score on (Metacritic) – if you let it fill your ears while you play, it can only be a good time.
