This week Epic is giving away Relicta. But what kind of game is it? And should you get it? We’ve got the answers!
Like clockwork: The Epic Store is giving away another new game this week. Relicta lets you puzzle, play with physics and marvel at the beautiful graphics. We find out for whom the pretty portal-like game might be worth a look. But first we’ll provide you with the most important facts.
How long does the promotion last? You can get Relicta for free from 20 to 27 January 2022 at 17:00. If you grab it, you get to keep the game permanently. The only requirement is that you have an Epic account.
But is the game even worth your time? That depends on what type of gamer you are. We’ll help you with our classification.

What Relicta is about
Relicta is a first-person physics puzzle game with elaborate 3D graphics. The comparison to Valve’s masterpieces Portal and Portal 2 is therefore obvious.
Physics plays a decisive role in the puzzles of Relicta. You have to understand and exploit gravity and magnetism to master the levels. You can also bend the laws of physics a little thanks to sci-fi technology in order to achieve your goals. This, like Portal, is supposed to be all about your clever mind.
The deep and mysterious background story of Relicta is also reminiscent of Portal. In Relicta, you have to collect clues in order to piece together the story.
Suitable for whom?
If you like to twist your brain, try out creative ideas and prove your ingenuity, Relicta might be worth a look. However, despite the first-person perspective, you shouldn’t expect an action game.
If you are a fan of Portal and Co. and are already starved for clever physics puzzles, we would recommend that you at least give the current free game from Epic a try.
What else is there to know?
Relicta was released on Steam on 4 August 2020, but flies completely under the radar there. Just 138 players have submitted reviews so far, but at least 83 per cent of them are very positive. If you want to see for yourself, you can go straight to the free game at Epic here:
