The Epic Games Store is giving away Borderlands 3 for free. Who is the new game for?

There’s another new free game in the Epic Games Store this week. And what a game: You can get the excellent co-op shooter Borderlands 3 for free.

How long does the promotion last? You can get the free game for free between 19 and 26 May 2022 at 17:00. If you grab the title during this period, you get to keep it permanently. An Epic account is required. The promotion only includes the base game.

As usual, here’s a short and sweet summary of what the new free game is all about and who should take a closer look.

What Borderlands 3 is all about

Gearbox only released the third full-fledged instalment in the Borderlands series in 2019 to much fan acclaim. Once again, players meet old acquaintances, face new dangers and get a humorous space western with plenty of blue beans.

You’ll blast your way through hordes of enemies with an almost endless selection of randomly generated weapons using the abilities of the four different characters (Siren, Operative, Gunner or Beastmaster) to fight your way through the witty campaign including side missions.

Endgame content such as repeatable missions in different difficulty levels also ensure that you can still grind on your perfect build after completing the story.

For whom?

If you like to shoot your way through virtual worlds as a solo player or together with up to three friends, Borderlands 3 is definitely a must-have. In addition to hearty action and the hunt for better and better loot, the black humour can provide many (shared) laughs.

The cartoon graphics are stylishly realised in a way typical of the series, but could well fail to appeal to some gamers. But if the gameplay from our test video appeals to you, we can recommend Borderlands 3 almost without reservation.

What do you think of the current gift campaign? Have you already played Borderlands 3? Are you planning to catch up with it during the free promotion? Or is Borderlands just not your pair of cowboy boots?
