Update from August 1, 2024:Thursday again! And of course the GameStar alarm clock rings in the morning to remind you that Epic’s free offer expires today. If you want to get your hands on a cool action game for free, you have to do it before 5pm. You can find out for whom this is worthwhile here in the article:
Fans of free gaming entertainment will definitely get their money’s worth today.Because it’s not only the release dayof the gigantic Fallout mod Fallout: London- no, today there’s also a fresh free game from Epic.
As every Thursday, the Steam competitor is once again giving away a new game to its users. Until next week, you can pick up an ingenious dieselpunk adventure in which a powerfist-tested rabbit has to save the animal world from nasty robots. We explain what the latest free game is about and who it’s for.
The free game of the week: F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch
(Genre:Metroidvania –Developer:TiGames –Release:October 03, 2021 –Player count:Single-player)
Fist, as we will call the game for short, is the second work by the young Chinese studio TiGames. In this dark Metroidvania, you take on the role of former resistance fighter Rayton, who has long since turned his back on the battlefield
When Rayton’s friends are arrested by the oppressive robots, the old warhorse has no choice but to put on his giant metal fist again. However, during his rescue attempt, Rayton gets caught up in a conspiracy that seems to be bigger than first thought.
During the 25-hour campaign, you will explore varied levels that represent a wild mix of diverse cultural influences. Although the story is relatively predictable, it is nicely and plausibly told. Thanks to the Unreal Engine 4 working in the background, Fist also looks damn good and doesn’t have to hide from the genre competition.
Our author Manuel Fritsch’s enthusiastic verdict in the test: “Visually impressive Dieselpunk-Metroidvania with crisp combat mechanics, challenging bosses and varied level design. “
