The Epic Games Store is giving away two games for a week. This time you can become an assassin, or build a gangster empire

After giving away rather small niche titles in the past weeks, Epic has a real highlight waiting for us this time, namely the conclusion of the Dishonored series. In addition, those of you blessed with a talent for criminal organisation can venture into the USA of the 1920s. For whom the two free games are worthwhile, we tell you here!

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider

(Genre: Action-Adventure – Developer: Arcane Studios – Release: September 15, 2017)

If you haven’t tried any of the Dishonored games before, here’s a quick introduction: In a gritty steampunk world, you must take out various high-level targets as an assassin, either by slaughtering everyone who gets in your way or by sneaking past all the guards. To do this, you have an arsenal of conventional weapons such as sword, pistol and crossbow at your disposal – and supernatural abilities given to you by the mysterious Outsider.

Finally, in the third and final game in the series, you set out to ensure the death of the Outsider, who you believe is responsible for much that goes wrong in the world of Dishonored. As assassin Billie Lurk, this mission has you sneaking and fighting your way through the underground of the city of Karnaca. Although the story of the standalone expansion cannot surpass its predecessors, the abandonment of the chaos system provides more playful freedom.

For whom is this suitable? If you have already played previous parts of the game or are a fan of Asssassin’s Creed, then you will certainly enjoy Death of the Outsider. You’ll experience an exciting story in one of Arcane Studios’ great game worlds, and you can experiment with weapons and supernatural abilities to successfully take down your misfits. Having played Dishonored and Dishonored 2 is not a necessary prerequisite, but those who are interested can often snag both games pretty cheaply in sales.

City of Gangsters

(Genre: Management game – Developer: SomaSim – Release: August 9, 2021)

(For free play )

In City of Gangsters you want to take advantage of Prohibition in the 1920s USA by setting up a smuggling ring that sells illegally produced alcohol. You set up your own distilleries, procure the necessary raw materials, learn new recipes and distribute the goods unseen in the city. In the process, you’ll need to hire trustworthy employees who won’t turn you in to the police and build good relationships with important people.

Who is this for? If you like micromanagement and making sure you are as efficient as possible in other games, you might also enjoy City of Gangsters. However, some players report that building up your gang can be very exhausting. There is also a lack of help in some places, which makes the game unnecessarily difficult for you.

Do you like the games this week? Will you be downloading one, or even both? Or do you already own them and have a recommendation or warning? Feel free to post it in the comments
