This week Epic is giving away the sandbox game Supraland. However, it is not a sandbox game. Find out what it’s about and who might have fun with it here!
The Epic Games Store has a new free game this week and, as every week, we’re introducing it to you! This time you can grab the sandbox game Supraland for free.
But that doesn’t mean the gameplay, it means the literal sandbox! What you can expect from Supraland, who could have fun with it and further information about the game can be found in the following lines.
Until when is the offer valid? As always, you can get the game in the next seven days. So the game will be available for free in the Epic store from 16 to 23 June 2022 at 17:00. An Epic account is required.
This is what Supraland is all about
A Metroidvania with puzzle elements, coupled with a similar premise to Grounded – and from a first-person perspective to boot? That sounds a bit unusual at first, but it works surprisingly well in Supraland!
But right away: Supraland has nothing to do with survival like Grounded – it’s rather the perspective and the setting that remind us of the game by Obsidian. Where Grounded takes place in the garden at home, in Supraland we find ourselves in the nearest sandbox.
We play a red figure, inconspicuous at first glance, who has to save the game world from a catastrophe. To do this, we puzzle our way from one area to the next, fight skeleton enemies and improve our protagonist over time.
In the meantime, a second part of the sandbox game has been released, which was originally supposed to be a DLC. You can watch the trailer for it here:
Who is Supraland for?
For those who enjoy a small but sweet journey into the sandbox, don’t like too challenging puzzles and enjoy a relaxed adventure, Supraland is for you.
The shallow story may not be a hit with some players, but the creative gameplay and the game world can definitely make up for that. This is also shown by the positive reviews (Steam).
Controversial developers
The developer of Supraland has repeatedly caused controversy in recent years with supposedly medical claims and his self-founded group “5 biological laws of nature” – for example under our original test on Supraland.
In it, infections, cancers and co. are played down and/or denied their medical basis. The grouping is based on the medically questionable treatment method of Ryke Geerd Hamer’s “Germanic New Medicine”, which experts consider dangerous.
In the test of Supraland, however, we did not find that the game itself takes up these controversial positions thematically.
