Europa Universalis 4 Epic games

This week Europa Universalis 4 lands in the Epic Store for free. We explain what the new free game is about and who it might appeal to.

A new week, a new gift in the Epic Store: Once again this week there’s a game for you for free. This time the free title should be a real reason for joy for all hardcore strategists, because it is Europa Universalis 4.

The promotion runs from 30 September to 7 October 2021 If you add Europa Universalis 4 to your Epic library during this period, it will be yours permanently. As usual, we present the free game in more detail below and answer the question of who could have fun with it

This is what Europa Universalis 4 is all about

The gameplay of Europa Universalis 4 should come as no surprise to genre connoisseurs: As the ruler of one of over 250 historical empires, you must lead your people to fame and fortune. Of course, the best way to do this is to expand your territorial dominion through sometimes more, sometimes less aggressive negotiations.

Especially at the beginning of a game, you naturally only have the scarcest resources at your disposal. The special feature of Europa Universalis 4 in comparison to genre colleagues such as Civilization is that the game is not turn-based, but runs in real time. However, you can pause the flow of time at any time to give orders and work out your next moves in peace.

And this pause function will quickly become your constant companion, because there is a lot to do and the overview is quickly lost. Rebel uprisings, religion, the circulation of goods, the military, state finances – you shouldn’t get bored, and probably many a rainy autumn day will be wasted on your path to world domination.

Even if the title of the game suggests otherwise: Your expansion plans are not limited to Europe. You can also spread out in Arabia, India and other parts of Asia and Africa or even the New World on the other side of the Atlantic and become the ruler.

Your campaign of conquest is also livened up by automatically generated missions. For example, you have to conquer renegade provinces or satisfy the Pope himself in order to gain favour with him – after all, this could come in handy later on!

For whom is the game worthwhile?

You probably already guessed it from the game description, but here’s the clear answer once again: Fans of complex turn-based strategy can hardly go wrong with Europa Universalis 4, after all, the game is free. However, those who find little joy in staring at a rather dull world map for many hours and worrying about invasion plans, alliances and finances should rather wave the white flag.
