The Epic Games Store is giving away Super Meat Boy Forever for a week. We’ll tell you who might find the game worthwhile
Every week, the Epic Store gives away one or more games. This week you can pick up the platformer Super Meat Boy Forever the only requirement, as always, is an Epic account. But who is the game suitable for? We give you a brief introduction to the title
What is Super Meat Boy Forever?
- Genre:Jump&Run
- Release:December 2020 (Switch, PC) / April 2021 (PS4, Xbox One) / April 2023 (iOS, Android)
The platformer is iin many ways a direct successor to Super Meat Boy. As the eponymous hero and his girlfriend Bandage Girl, you run, jump, kick and fight your way through challenging levels with deadly traps. The aim is to rescue your kidnapped child Nugget from the evil Dr. Fetus.
However, there are also two significant changes compared to its predecessor. Firstly, you run automatically in Super Meat Boy Forever instead of controlling your character completely freely. Secondly, the levels are randomly generated from thousands of pre-made level sections. This should make the game feel different every time you play it.
Controversial successor
So who is the game for?  If you’re a fan of Super Meat Boy or enjoy playing platformers, there’s no harm in picking up the game for free. However, not everyone likes the new features.
Super Meat Boy Forever is significantly less popular than its predecessor: On Steam, the game only has 56 percent positive ratings, while Super Meat Boy has 94 percent ratings. The auto-running in particular is the subject of much criticism, with some fans saying that the game feels like it was only developed for mobile devices.
Do you fancy giving the successor to Super Meat Boy a try, or is the game not for you? In that case, don’t worry, because there are plenty of other games to discover.
