In light of the upcoming release of Frostpunk 2, developer 11 bit studios recently introduced a dev diaries series called “City Unbound”. It sheds light on the creative process and the game’s profound innovations

The “City Unbound” series consists of seven episodes and features exclusive interviews and brand new footage from the game. It highlights the strengths and unique aspects of Frostpunk 2, with the first episode focusing on the sweeping expansion of New London and the aftermath of the Captain’s authoritarian rule that ended 30 years ago in the first game.

In Frostpunk 2, there will be the opportunity to explore the different levels of the Idea Tree and the Zeitgeist. The Zeitgeist reflects the general ideological attitude of the city, which is shaped by the way the various factions are treated. The decisions and actions of the players have a decisive influence on how their city develops and which direction it takes.

Factions in Frostpunk 2

A central new feature in Frostpunk 2 are the factions. These offer different challenges and opportunities to steer the political machinations within the city. Accordingly, the development team has placed a focus on the council, the central organ of power in the city. Those who pull the right strings here can use the factions competing for power to their own advantage. In this way, players can reclaim the frosty lands from the icy wilderness and transform the city into a thriving center

Frostpunk 2 will be released for PC on September 20. On the same day, the strategy game will also be added to the PC Game Pass. 11 bit Studios is also working on a console version. However, this will be released at a later date
