With the upcoming release ofFrostpunk 2the sequel to the popular city-builder survival game from 11 bit studios is moving into the spotlight. In the final episode of theCity Unbound developer diary seriesthe latest details and new features of the game have been summarized. The Polish development team has set itself the task of improving the gameplay on all levels while retaining the core mechanics that made its predecessor so successful
The developers at 11 bit studios are emphasizing the implementation of community feedback to optimize Frostpunk 2, including new features such as the revamped districts and improved menus for city management. In addition, there is now the possibility to take a closer look at daily life in New London through “Zoom Stories.”
One of the biggest updates inFrostpunk 2concerns city building. Instead of individual buildings, players now manage entire districts, which offer strategic advantages and require more in-depth planning. Added to this are the political tensions created by different factions within the districts. These require us to manage our city not only economically but also ideologically.
The Council Chamber has been introduced for this purpose. It brings a new decision-making system, which can have long-term and more complex consequences for the city.
Expansion into the Frostlands and Colonies
A particular highlight in the final episode of theCity Unbound series is the introduction of colonies. Now we can establish outposts in the Frostlands, which are connected to the city and to each other via train lines.
These colonies play a crucial role in the resource supply of New London and can specialize in areas such as food production or resource mining. However, managing these colonies is a challenge. Those who take the risk may jeopardize the survival of humanity in the post-apocalyptic world of Frostpunk 2.
