The Game Awards Games and Reveals
Awards are all well and good, but most of us are probably mostly looking forward to the numerous games that finally show us their progress with new trailers or even detailed gameplay scenes and, in the best case, announce the release date right away. Which already known games could be shown at the Game Awards 2021?
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum
For some time now, a game about one of the most important but often relegated characters of the Lord of the Rings universe has been in development. The German studio Daedalic is responsible for this, which appropriately does not focus on brute action in the game, but on clever stealth gameplay. After a long silence, new material will finally be shown at the Game Awards 2021. The developers revealed this via Twitter:
Something’s lurking in the shadows…

What is already known about The Lord of the Rings: Gollum and what are the chances that we are in for a good game in Tolkien’s fascinating world, you can find out in our preview:
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2
The next adventure of the Celtic warrior Senua was revealed at the Game Awards 2019. Even then, the trailer, which was created entirely in the game engine, caused open mouths. Since then, however, there has been radio silence, which is a shame, as many details of the game are still unknown – story, setting, gameplay and more. However, the signs are more than good that we will get to see new material at TGA 2021.
Arc Raiders
Embark Studios, the new development team around ex-DICE boss Patrick Söderlund, will announce their game Arc Raiders during the Game Awards 2021. It is a shooter with a sci-fi setting, which made a fantastic impression in its previous teasers, especially visually. More information about the planned announcement can be found here:

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands
Tiny Tina from Borderlands will be present during the Game Awards and will most likely present a new trailer for the spin-off Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. In addition, Tina has already made a few predictions about the show:
That’s right, we’re going to TheGameAwards! 🤩

Destiny 2: Witch Queen
The upcoming expansion Witch Queen for Destiny 2 will also receive a new trailer within the show. This was confirmed by Geoff Keighley himself via Twitter:

Halo Series
Paramount’s long-announced Halo series will get its first trailer at the Game Awards, it was announced via Twitter. Given the release of Halo: Infinite, there could hardly be a more appropriate time. Perhaps an exact launch date will also be revealed, as so far the series is only said to be released in 2022.
A big week for Halo fans just got bigger.
Gear up, Spartans.

Reveals: Which new games will be announced?
The distinctive voice that hums a World Premiere into the microphone has now achieved cult status. And host Geoff Keighley has already revealed in the new Game Awards podcast that more than half of the entire show will consist of new announcements. This is also the assumption of the usually very well-informed and reliable Twitter user Okami13, who has already whetted our appetite for more with a teaser:
What’s one game you really want to see at 🤔
For me it would have to be Metal Gear Solid. Either a remake or HD Remaster collection.
Also really want to see Hellblade 2 but it sounds like we will. pic.twitter.com/rHyEviRcpX

Although many titles are likely to be announced with a console focus in particular. But there are also some titles for us PC gamers for which we are hoping for new material in the form of trailers or even gameplay scenes:
- Starfield: RPG fans are sitting on pins and needles: Will first real gameplay finally be shown?
- Assassins Creed: Is the Open World coming “to end all Open Worlds”? Ubisoft could finally show us what the series future looks like in the form of AC Infinity
- Bioshock Isolation: Meanwhile, rumours are growing that the new instalment in the popular shooter series could be unveiled in late 2021 – most recently, there have been leaks about the setting and era of Bioshock 4.
- Stalker 2: Will Microsoft show new footage of the first-person shooter? After all, the April 2022 release isn’t too far away and the last sign of life looked extremely promising.
- Perfect Dark: The next instalment in the series was announced at last year’s Game Awards, but what about the game in the meantime? Only a trailer could answer that!
- Metal Gear Solid 3 (Remake) : Actually, Solid Snake’s adventures are more of a console theme, but since the last series spin-offs have also been released on the PC, the remake could also end up with us.
Matrix: Both Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss (best known as Trinity in the Matrix series) are set to host, so what could be more fitting than a new Matrix announcement? After all, the theatrical release of Matrix 4 is coming up. Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that a tech demo called The Matrix Awakens, based on Unreal Engine 5, will be shown.
New Sonic: Sega will apparently be announcing a new Sonic game as part of the show. At least in the lead up, the Sonic Twitter account flirted very aggressively with show host Geoff Keighley.
Thanks, we’ll see you there!

No Activision Blizzard games at the Game Awards 2021
No matter what games are shown at the Game Awards, one manufacturer will definitely be missing: Activision Blizzard. As Geoff Keighley announced via Twitter, no titles from the publisher will be shown apart from the nominations.
Beyond its nominations, I can confirm that Activision
