Four years after the last installment in the series, a new Gears of War was announced at the Xbox Showcase. The prequel is set to tell the prehistory of A whole mission in Assassin’s Creed Shadows: How stealth and action come together

At Ubisoft Forward, we finally have gameplay from the upcoming AC Shadows. And not only does it look pretty damn chic, it also has some gameplay innovations in store

Assassin’s Creed fans had to wait years before Ubisoft finally fulfilled their dream of a series installment with a Japanese setting withAssassin’s Creed Shadows

As part of this year’s Ubisoft Forward, the publisher’s in-house games presentation, it has now alsoshown plenty of real gameplayfrom the upcoming assassination game – and it’s quite something.

Ubisoftshowed a complete missionin a video lasting no less than 13 minutes, finally explaining how the two new main characters will affect the gameplay. We have embedded the complete video right here:

What to see?

The first half of the video shows gameplay from the point of view of Yasuke, who goes in search of information in the tranquil little town of Fukuchiyama. A corrupt samurai is extorting high taxes from the local farmers. The locals ask Yasuke to eliminate the culprit.

Once Yasuke has confronted the samurai in the marketplace, we get our first look at the combat gameplay of Shadows:As we suspected beforehand, Yasuke is the man for the rough stuff. With his huge club, he simply beats his opponents to a pulp. The depiction is extremely bloody, with helmets and pieces of armor flying off one by one.

Once the crook is history, we learn that the local daimyo is the real mastermind behind the corrupt machinations. So we have to infiltrate his castle and take out the lord. This part is taken over by the nimble shinobi Naoe.

Equipped with a climbing rope with a throwing hook, the assassin sets about scaling the fortress.

The trailer reveals just howmany stealth innovationsShadows has in store for players: Naoe crawls on all fours in tall grass to avoid detection; she uses a reed to breathe underwater when diving.

The eye eats too

In addition to the gameplay shown, the real highlight of the trailer is probably the graphics of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

In and around Fukuchiyama, cherry trees sway atmospherically in the wind, the sun is reflected on the flooded rice fields.Since Unity, Assassin’s Creed has probably not made such a big graphical leap as we are about to see.

How are you looking forward to Assassin’s Creed Shadows? Are you as excited as a Japanese longbow? Or are you not at all excited about the planned new additions to the series? Are you a fan of the ninja faction or rather part of the honorable samurai team? Let us know in the comments!

New Soulslike Game Confirmed for Xbox Game Pass in 2025

A brand-new Soulslike, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase, and will be added as a Day One Xbox Game Pass title in 2025. There were a lot of stirs surrounding Microsoft and Xbox’s potential lineup going into Summer Game Fest and the Xbox Games Showcase. While there were a number of games confirmed for the Xbox Game Pass service at Summer Game Fest, Microsoft was holding its bigger reveals for its own show at Xbox Games Showcase.

The Xbox Games Showcase revealed a number of brand-new titles coming from the publisher. These included new gameplay trailers for new titles like Doom: The Dark Ages and giving fans the first look at previously announced games like the Perfect Dark reboot. Smaller releases, like the dark action Soulslike title, Wuchang: The Fallen Feathers, were also revealed. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, developed by Lenzee Games, was confirmed to be a Day One game on the Xbox Game Pass service.

The story of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers takes place during China’s late Ming Dynasty era, meaning players will meet a variety of historical figures from that time period. Wuchang, a female pirate, wakes up with amnesia. With the plague and monsters spreading all over the country, Wuchang also ends up suffering from the powers of Ornithropy. The trailer states that Fallen Feathers will be coming sometime in 2025.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a Soulslike Set in the Late Ming Dynasty Era

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers’ announcement trailer kicked off with a dark cinematic of a young woman, the titular Wuchang, fighting a monster who is sitting atop a pile of corpses. However, Wuchang has access to a variety of weapons, including a sword, axe, and spear, with all three weapons being swappable mid-combat. Wuchang also has access to the mysterious magical abilities of Ornithropy, meaning players will also need to focus on magic in this Soulslike to compliment their multiple weapons.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is being touted as offering a challenging combat experience with its multiple weapons and Ornithropy magic system. True to the genre’s tradition, Fallen Feathers is a Soulslike that also has emphasis on exploring an interconnected environment. The player will occasionally need to make choices on Wuchang’s journey, which will end up being integral to the game’s narrative as well. All of this makes Wuchang: Fallen Feathers a promising Souls-like game that will be added to the Xbox Game Pass service.

A new era of gaming? Nvidia’s latest innovation could change how we play forever

Project G-Assist could be the next big revolution after DLSS and Frame Generation.

Nvidia’s keynote at Computex 2024 was all about artificial intelligence. No wonder, the company is making a fortune with it and has become one of the most valuable companies in the world

Many of the innovations announced are, however, only moderately interesting for the majority of players. Yes, there are now great new RTX AI laptops, more monitors that support G-Sync and more games that offer DLSS 3 or DLSS 3.5.

And developers can be pleased that Nvidia has revealed the source code for the RTX Remix Toolkit, which can be used to bring classic games into the modern age. But these are not new graphics cards that had high hopes. In our opinion, however, one thing does stand out: Project G-Assist

What’s Project G-Assist all about?Viper Commandos at a glance

The developers have already implemented their plans and the associated changes in Viper Commandos. For example, the new content of the Premium Warbond matches the jungle theme and there are skins for your vehicles for the first time

5G-22 Bushwhacker (sawed-off shotgun with three barrels, secondary weapon)

Auxiliary

K-2 Throwing knife (throwing weapon)
Experimental Infusion (increases movement speed and reduces damage taken for a short time)

Equipment

PH-202 Twigsnapper (heavy armor, increases the damage and handling of melee weapons)
PH-9 Predator (light armor, increases damage and melee weapon handling)

Skins

Undergrowth Shuttle
Undergrowth Hellpod
Undergrowth Exosuit

More content

two new player banners
Two new capes
three new victory poses
new player title (Viper-Commando)

Arrowhead points out that all players should be able to live out theirand therefore listen to their wishes. This has a particular impact on the Warbonds, which will also appear regularly in the future. These are permanent Season Passes that offer new content but do not disappear over time

These changes will take place immediately:

Warbonds will be
&nbspreleased
&nbspmore frequently, but withhigher quality
In future, there should be more variation in the contentof warbonds to create more space for new item types and avoid redundancy
New content should now better match the theme of the associated warbond

Away from the warbonds, there are also some changes at Helldivers 2 and Arrowhead Games Studios. In the article linked above you will find a detailed explanation of why Arrowhead will now release updates for Helldivers 2 less frequently. You can also find out what plans the new head of the Swedish development studio has.

to tell part one

There is cause for celebration for Gears of War fans:

Around four years after the last installment in the series – if you don’t count Tactics, it’s even five – Gears of War is returning with a new title.

At this year’s Xbox Showcase from publisher Microsoft, the prequel with the simple additional title

E-Day

was officially announced.

In the Gears universe,

E-Day stands for the so-called Emergence Day, the day on which the genetically modified Locust first emerged from the earth and threatened the people of Sera.

Series fans may remember: Back in 2006, we were given a glimpse of this day in the legendary Mad World trailer for the first Gears of War. And that’s exactly what the new installment of the series plans to follow – or rather anticipate – in terms of style

Because E-Day is set 14 years before the first Gears of War

and tells the story leading up to its events. In the announcement trailer, the two heroes Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago can be seen taking on a brutal Locust thug

The two then look down on a burning city to the stylized sounds of a piano version of Mad World. And thanks to the Unreal Engine 5 used, this scenery also looks really chic. But see for yourself, we’ve included the trailer above

The veteran studioThe Coalition, which was also responsible for parts four and five of the series, is once again in charge of development.

A release date for E-Day has unfortunately not yet been communicated.

It can be assumed that E-Day will be released for PC and Xbox consoles. A PlayStation release is currently still questionable.

In addition, there are currently alsoplans from Netflixto produce a series set in the Gears of War universe.
