The samurai game lands on the PC after a few years. However, there are still cross-play restrictions for the release

Ghost of Tsushima is best known for its single-player campaign, in which we fight as Japanese samurai against invading invaders. However, the action adventure also has a multiplayer mode called Legends, which functions as a game in its own right.

This in-game game is free for all Ghost of Tsushima owners, but there will be minor restrictions on PC at release.

What applies to the PC version?

Ghost of Tsushima will offer the main game, the expansion Iki Island and the multiplayer mode on PC. Legends will also be available at launch, however Crossplay between consoles and PC will initially only be available as a beta version

While you will be able to invite friends who play on PlayStation via the PlayStation network, the automatic player search will only connect you to players on PC

Multiplayer will not be playable at all on the Steam Deck, as Windows is required for some functions.

Crossplay and some other Legends features, such as friends lists and trophies, also require a PlayStation Network (PSN) account. In principle, however, the account is optional for single and multiplayer.

Nevertheless, just like Helldivers 2, Ghost of Tsushima is not available on Steam in over 170 countries. It is currently unclear whether this block will be lifted before the release, but it is unlikely

How does Legends actually work?

If you’ve never heard of multiplayer mode before, we’ll give you a brief overview: Legends is a co-op multiplayer game in which you compete as a group of 4 fighters. There are four classes to choose from, each with different fighting styles:

Samurai are aggressive, armored melee fighters, Hunters attack from long range with the bow, Ronin support their team and even revive you and Assassins attack from ambush with the sword.

In a world inspired by Japanese mythology, you then fight against hordes of enemies, complete missions and improve your fighter with stronger equipment and new skills.

Have you thought about buying Ghost of Tsushima? Or are you still waiting for the reveal of the new Assassin’s Creed, which is also set in historical Japan?
