For those who have not yet played the DLC, there is a risk of spoilers at this point. During the course of Valhalla, Kratos meets his younger self, who remains silent. Judge stated that his decision to decline this role was due to his respect for Terrence C. Carson. Carson had taken on the role of Kratos between 2005 and 2013, before Judge was introduced as the new actor for the character in 2017.
The developers justified the change at the time by saying that Kratos is accompanied by his son Atreus in the last two “God of War” games. Compared to Sunny Suljic, the actor playing Atreus, Carson was too small for Santa Monica Studios The studio therefore decided to replace Carson with the taller and more physically imposing Judge.
