The developers have released a new update and in it they show how nasty the Minecrawlers are supposed to look in the remake.
With a very simple test you can find out who has played Gothic and who has not. Say the word: Minecrawler. While many just shrug their shoulders and wonder if it has anything to do with this Minecraft, Gothic veterans now immediately have the nasty sound in their ears: “Fffrrrrrrzzz”, hisses dozens of times from the deep darkness of the mine shafts.
Of course, the legendary Minecrawlers are just as much a part of the upcoming Gothic remake as other familiar enemies, such as the ravenous Scavengers. And a new update from the developers gives us a first glimpse of the newly designed creepy crawlies.
Minecrawlers in the Gothic Remake
According to the developer entry, the beasts are not only supposed to look scarier than before, but also have a new trick up their sleeve. More is not yet revealed, however. In the still active forum (World of Gothic), the new Minecrawlers are almost universally well received. User Norrik, for example, writes:
It looks really great! At first I was slightly worried that the angularity would be lost too much, but it’s been kept very well! He looks more menacing than in the original, which I also like.
More details from the post to the community:
More such tidbits of info are to be released in the future, but only gradually.
Work on the remake is said to be progressing satisfactorily, with 35 developers currently working on it in the Barcelona studio. In addition, there are further external workers.
New employees are still actively being sought, from VFX artists to community managers and testers.

The Gothic remake doesn’t have a release date yet. But it will certainly be a while before we walk into the new Old Camp. Or into the new New Camp. Of course, the decision is once again up to you.
